G'day there.

After travelling economy to Europe 3 times in 18 months I am here to learn the tricks to getting better seats (Business hopefully ;) ) with my eye on turning my Silver QANTAS FF card Gold or Platinum :)

Do we mere mortals have access to the tools and info Travel Agents do?

Welcome aboard Robbi, there's lots of good advice here if you're prepared to look around. A few years ago I thought gold was hard to attain and this year I'm enjoying P1 thanks to the tips I learnt here.

Hi robbi

WRT travel tools, the one you'll hear mentioned here most often is Expert Flyer

A subscription is probably worth it. Its good for seeing the availability of certain fare 'buckets', incl upgrades and reward seats - but like any technical tool, needs some care in interpretation.

There is also KVS: KVS Availability Tool: Membership Levels & Contribution Options but I don't use it myself.

I also like Seat Guru, Insideflyer, Airwise, and Flightaware. These are less technical, more info sources.
