Hi All,

I just discovered this site today, and have taken the plunge with paid membership (My QP membership is due for renewal next month, and every girl loves a bargain).

I don't have the luxury of work paying for me to fly, so all my travel is self funded. I have floated around QF Silver for some time, however may just crack Gold this year with a couple of o/s trips planned. LTG might be possible by the time I retire!

I look forward to picking up lots of tips and tricks, and occasionally throwing my hat in the ring.

Welcome JessicaTam!

Hope you enjoy AFF and it's great minds and various antics ;)

Hello JessicaTam,
Have a look at:
Woolworths Everydayrewards card
28degrees card
Status runs to make Gold for free QF lounge entry
US dividend miles
a girl may be able to use some of these threads to save and enjoy travelling.

Welcome to AFF.

Hi JessicaTam,

Welcom to AFF. :D

Thank you all for the warm welcome. And thanks, Cove for the tips.

Now to delve into the world of status runs and JASAs. Ahh, the wonderful world of acronyms. Good thing the forum has an abbreviations page!

Hello again JessicaTam.
There are so many ways to improve your style of travel without it costing the bank.
If you don't make a few mistakes you will never learn.
markis10 has posted a couple of status runs one of which includes Brisbane,Townsville and Darwin when others are thinking NAN is a dot on the map to visit. Any seat in J works a treat.
We will see you out there!

Good grief, is it 1,000 posts already; how time flies.
So to commemorate, I thought I would reflect on the last (nearly) twelve months.

I came to this forum thinking SG might be possible, however I have managed QF Plat, TK Gold Elite, Accor Plat and IHG Gold. And my DJ Red will soon change colour with the changes to the DJ SC earn rules recently announced.

AFF has proved to be a wealth of information, sometimes it takes a little digging to find, but mostly is freely given. I hope that I have brought some knowledge to the forum as best I could, but I am still in awe of so many who know so much.

Occasionally I have tried to diffuse those tense moments - not always successfully, and I think you are starting to get my sense of humour. (Thanks hvr for the 'dad jokes' - pun intended).

My QFF balance has soared thanks to the wise minds on the EDR thread - Shintaro10x and Lindsay Wilson to name a couple. (Joshua, my trolley run will come one day).

I think I have had as many 'partners' as I have had Lounge entries and to all of them, thank you for trusting that I wouldn't bust up the place - or offer strawberries to the window sill. And for anyone who had a hand in organising any of them, thank you too - most recently munitalP for the MEL Xmas do.

There are as many opinions as there are members, and almost as many perspectives. I enjoy butting heads when mine differs. Thanks TonyHancock for your blogs and JohnK for your take on things. The strength of AFF lies very much in its members and to everyone who has posted - keep it up. To those who lurk in the shadows - come and play. We don't bite (well not too hard, anyway).

So to the next 12 months: Whilst I have met many members, there are still a heap of people I haven't met and am looking forward to; airlines I haven't tried; hotels I haven't visited; and status runs I haven't flown (expect some correspondence Serfty)!

And just in case you are not sure, Yes, IKWIA!

P.S. Shintaro10x: I am enjoying a glass of Bob McLean's Preacher's Psalm which has a suitable quote on the back, "...ne'er worry my friend, the sun is over the yard arm somewhere," - anon.
