Guesting strangers into the lounge

Can I ask why? Genuinely curious.
Perhaps a former American? Their "thank you for your service" is astounding. Still feel uneasy about their fandom of their military and how deeply ingrained it really is (so much so LAX and other airports have dedicated loungs (the USO) for them!).

It grates on me as well, and I have many family members who have served. However, I guess you have to consider America's apparent role as world policepersons, their civil war history and their constitutional need to maintain an armed citizen militia to keep the government in check, if need be. All in contrast with our antipodean general disrespect for authority and formality. US land of the free? Hardly. Still recall being staggered upon entering a toilet at a bar in Ohio and finding a couple of cops hanging out in there. Other cops in the general bar, just watching. Cops on corners, quasi-cops / semi-cops / deputy-dawgs everywhere you look. Geeze, how much law enforcement does it take to run that joint?

I don't understand? You express disdain for the level of law enforcement and military in the USA, but you appear to not like the support the people give veterans and serving people? IMHO that support is a basic, human thing. For those caught up in wars, etc.

It would be totally off-topic to continue these comments, so I will desist, but in a parting shot, I would suggest that such "cops" hanging out in bars could help us in Australia, where we seem to be becoming the world champions in nourishing a generation of cowardly king-hitters.

Hmmm, it's more dislike of the platitude itself. I guess I'm not a flag-waver (hell, I'm in favor of a change to the flag actually, maybe I'd wave a new one?). There are a lot of Americans, they certainly aren't all flag wavin', veteran over-thankin', good ol' boys-and-girls. I don't have the right to say I don't like it - it's their nation. But I certainly wouldn't like it here in Oz, no. It's sort of un-Australian, really. Our military is necessary, but let's not militarise everything.

Moving on to local law enforcement, well really I'm sort of a fan of the lockout laws. So how can I be a fan of those laws but generally want a low-profile police force? Hard to say.

That's not uncommon at SYD F IME.
I then go to the J lounge to use the facilities which tends to perplex the gatekeepers there.

On a recent visit to SYD F only one men toilet was operating and the queue was long.
Not a good look for QF flagship lounge.
Maybe they'll use it as excuse to ban JQ pax :p
