<snip> I will fight to to keep it. So much so, I am already booked to fly back to the States to get my hair cut. It's really a dual purpose trip, I'll make Platinum on QF.

You should make it a tri-purpose trip and join one of the periodic 'In-N-Out (Burger) Runs' that appear in this forum. For instance here. To SFO and back just for burgers and animal fries ...

I can help a little with hair dryers since being miss piggy and being mostly Usa based ....so know the intricacies of travel with the muppet show.

My solution with many of my favourite US based electrical goods was a simple step down transformer.

If I cannot find an equivalent product to my liking I simply use my US based electrical goods ....... via a step down transformer. I have two of them at home in Australia.

I am so pleased with myself and feel so at home.

Oh .....Jaycar is the place where they can be bought!

Marki- I am on it! Thanks

I am not complaining about leaving US. Its my choice. I am just surprised that of all the things that I have to change, the hair dryer is creating anxiety. I would have thought see

I'll be on my way shortly, so either way good or bad hair, I'll survive

Just be thankful that hairdryers have progressed from this -

Looks like some sort of ventilator for under water diving ( not that would work)

My Mum still has it...! And it still works... She tells me she'd gladly sell it to you mrs.dr.ron...

Perhaps it might be a suitable replacement for yours, windycityf..? ;)

So the hair dryer drama continues.....

I've arrived in BNE only to have my hair, literally, double in size. (Humidity and curly hair do not mix nice).

So off I went to the local shops in search of a Parlux or GHD. I had a bit of luck in David Jones. The nice gal working suggested a nice lower end one with a good price, and then I pointed to my hair and she said oh no you need the Parlux.
Well I followed your advice Princess Fiona and tried to order it from Ry.com. My US billing address and BNE shipping address created an fraud alert. So now I am waiting of a magic charge to show up so I can verify that it was truly me that made the purchase. It was $150 online vs. $209 in the store, plus I was able to get pink, to match my purple ghd flat iron. I am trying to embrace the crazy hair but the local men's barbershop is starting to look quite tempting.

So I guess I need to delve into the land of banking and Australian credit cards.

Since reading this thread I haven't been able to stop thinking about the possibility of salon hair at home. So, yesterday I invested in a Parlux 3800 ionic and ceramic hairdryer. I have very thick hair and when it's humid it doubles in volume. This morning I used the Parlux for the first time and I can't stop looking in the mirror lol, I am so happy to have normal sized hair. I paid $139 at Shaver Shop (according to the receipt 36.8% discount)
