Half a million points ...

I tried the exact dates with KrisFlyer and flights are available. The ~AUD310 taxes one way scare me.

Scare or petrify?

I hear that J is very good therapy for 'scared'!

Business class is great when you have an endless supply of points.

I have close to 300,000 Amex MR points. It has taken me a good 5-6 years to accumulate those points. Those points will get me 1.5 return trips in business class for 2 people SYD-BKK. I really do not see that as good value.

Now 3 return trips for 2 people in economy paying a few extra dollars in taxes would be ideal but taxes on SQ are ridiculous. Think time to look at Asia Miles but the value outside of HKG is not there either.

If going for a Y redemption then can't you book it as a VFF especially as the cash component is normally very reasonable?

Yep this is what I found too. Hence the strangeness of the website only showing codeshares.

Have you tried calling velocity at all to see if it is available through them?

I am not looking to book any flights at the moment so have no reason to call them but am definitely interested in the outcome of VFF vs SQ availability for future reference.

Agreed. But the issue is that Velocity is not reflecting this availability online. Hence my earlier comment. They are only showing codeshares at the 'any seat' price as far out as you look even though SQ seats are available.

I know that calling works with EY J Guest seats (been there done that).

So I'd call VFF and simply ask the question.
