Trying VN J to Europe for the first time. Land in HAN around 1730 and leaving the next day at 10am.

I haven't been to HAN for 7-8 years. Are there any good hotels or resorts near the airport to stay at or should I just go stay somewhere central and enjoy a nice dinner in town?

There are plenty of cheap hotels around the airport but you could go into town and stay but bear in mind that Hanoi’s traffic is very unpredictable. I’ve stepped off a flight, through immigration and collected bags, jumped in a car and got to the hotel in around and hour and also had it take over 2hrs for the same trip.
International flight the next morning means around 7am at the airport so do you really want to get up at the crack of dawn?
If you really wanted to head into town then perhaps staying near the airport and then catching a cheap Grab into town for dinner and a walk around might be an option
