Have I gone too far with points and miles?

We are back in London after a quick trip to Switzerland where it tried to rain and rain.... Now Mrscove wasn't too happy with an economy run to Zurich but going out of London City would have been great except we were delayed by fog. That made it a longer day by several hours of waiting.
I think we will be in LOTFAP in August and December.
We may have to increase our travel to stop miles getting close to expiry with Kris Flyer

You might have to seek out a few new destinations cove.

We are still exploring the UK GarrettM and the US/ Canada is pretty nice. Having grown up children is a bonus but we get to fly them places too. After the Ansett collapse many AFFers burn to zero each year even though that was 15 years ago.

cove why not *A Part Awards in J? Cheap in Europe - yes I know Euro J ain't spectacular but a mile in front of Y - we have LH J VLC-FRA-FLR then FLR-FRA booked in a months time - 27,500 + ~S$100ea ea flt - delays won't be such a bother up front.

Yes it was a travel mistake combined with fog and rain to rub it in.

Any European destinations you've yet to try cove? Prague is a good one. I like to plan my trips around good paleontological collections. Brussels was a great one. Wish list still includes London, Chicago, New York, and a couple of Canadian museums. Long service leave in three years (hopefully) so going to work on ticking them all off in one super itinerary.

Counting down to long service leave is what my eldest son is doing.
I would like to get LSL but I am off the payroll.
We enjoyed Vienna and Lyon and have never gone to Eastern Europe.

I was searching for something on reddit today and weirdly found out why Australia/NZ has long service leave.

Long service leave is an additional employee vacation payable after long periods of service with an employer in Australia and New Zealand. Long service leave was introduced in Australia in the 1860s. The idea was to allow civil servants the opportunity to sail home to England after 10 years’ service in ‘the colonies’. It was 13 weeks for every ten years of service, composed of five weeks to sail back to England, three weeks of leave and five weeks to sail back.

Qantas came out with a double status credit offer so we booked a paid ticket from Perth to New York and back to score 1440 status credits each in one trip. Well that will renew our Platinum status for another year.
Using miles we will go SQ suites for a work trip to Las Vegas and we have our usual trips to Melbourne and Sydney booked in business class. Despite this our points and miles have kept growing.

I make out an earn of 146K QFF points between you.

I think it's time that the ATO stop sending bills to pay as I am a soft touch on using CCs that work.

Thinking more about this we feel confident our beneficiaries will figure our PIN and log ins if we are no longer able to travel.

If you have any doubts I will happily take those details for... safekeeping. ;)

Just too kind GarrettM. Now have you pushed MrsGarrettM into the frequent flyer world along side with you?
Mrscove is leading in AA miles and QF points if there is a family competition.

I'm afraid she'll never be a serious convert. I reckon when she travelled the globe as a young woman she cemented in her brain the crazy idea that doing it cheaply/no frills was somehow sufficient.

She already questions the amount of time I spend on this forum. And in any case we could never compete with the family cove when it comes to accumulating, or spending(!!) points.

The switch to a single income isn't going to help much either.

So I have decided to keep my goals modest. Merely tick over a cc sign-up a couple times a year when possible, and take advantage of points buying bonuses in the same way when I can.

That should be enough for us to enjoy a little comfortable travel once in a while. I can see myself getting more familiar with Singapore/Bangkok/Hong Kong.

A lot of people have it a lot worse.

Mrscove does no AFF nor Facebook and she will look up Twitter but not participate.
I took her away from her library and I guess it has been quite a journey for her.
Now I do hope MrsGarrettM finds a position that works a treat.
