As I would be amazed if I fly on Virgin Blue in the next year or two, I don't intend joining any time soon.

However for the sake of those who do use the airline, I hope it turns out to be a good programme.

I agree with others who feel that it is unlikely that Qantas will make any changes as a result. At least not in the short term.

Long wait, nothing special.

Only economy international flights? Forget it.

Good to see Virgin taking an active interest in FF !

:? Have I missed something in between or am I misunderstanding the 2 statements :?:

I had interpreted it as meaning AFF, given the post from Lindsay Wilson a few before it

Yes, I meant AFF.

Program is rubbish, but it's still good that they are monitoring the forums.

I answered "No, but may join before my next DJ or EK flight", but really only likely if I have to fly DJ.

If an Emirates flight is on the cards, I would almost certainly Skywards.

I believe DJ have missed the boat regarding status; but then again that may have gone against the Bearded One's public egalitarian philosophy.

At the moment it's free, and just in case. No immediate plans. May offer something to QFPs for example to entice them to try. Time will tell...

I joined up right away. DJ is worth supporting. Without them we'd all be paying double or triple the price for seats on QF like we used to. And if you are flying domestic economy, they are hands down better, IMO.

The only gripe I have with DJ is that ghastly chime sound in Sydney T2 before announcements are made. It's so frigging loud and grating! They need to turn down the volume on the PA and get a more soothing chime sound (like the one in KUL), or better still none at all.

That membership card has got to be the worst looking membership card i have ever ever seen.

Anyone else think so?

Is that because it doesnt have a goldy or platinumy colour to it?

It works for me. I don't have any problems with it. Then again, my taste is not always a good reflection of reality.

I have only ever had bronze or silver so have no idea what the other two look like. :(

Just the way the plane is set out with the tiny red background.

Doesn't work for me. But if most people like it then so be it.

I have joined. whist the programme doesn't have the same level offerings as QFF, Virgin doesn't have the complexity of a full service carrier such as QF.

When I am looking for a cheaper alternative to QF for leisure travel, and fly DJ, at least when I deplane the DJ flight I wil have something extra to show for it.

Looking forward to the next steps in the Virgin revamp, the Blue Room upgrades.

I think it is interesting that 49% of voters have already joined.

Hey when it is free, why not, it makes sense to me.

You never know when you can benefit from a loyalty program.

How many other cards do we all have that may not have been used. I know I have stumbled on the odd opportunity to utilise membership for a scheme I vaguely remembered joining eons ago.

Well, I have three FF membership cards now - one has processed well over 2,000,000 points, one has 8,500 points (miles actually) with never having a flight posted, and the other has a 0 balance (and an orange and silver paper printed card  ).

But I do have several hotel program cards that have not ever been used. I joined a few because I expected to be staying with them, but in the end I never did. So I still only use 1 hotel card and its had well over half a million points through it.

So you are right. Its free to join so why not join. Now if I do fly DJ again, I will at least be putting something away for a rainy day  .

And I know of plenty of people who have FF accounts just because they were offering a status match. Now anyone willing to admit to that one?

The great man flying DJ? Don't think so!

Pretty much what tipped me over into joining. It was free. Now if it had cost (like QF) may not have bothered until I knew I was going to be flying them regularly.

Not me, although I am aware that some people have done it.
