Got a decent layover in HNL in mid August.

Arrive JQ3 at 0600.
Depart AA102 at 1959
So near 13hrs on the ground.

Few questions.
Do you think AA will let me check luggage upon arrival (and would you do it in HNL
Alternatively is there any luggage storage at HNL (I can only find web references to private offsite places)

I've done Waikiki before but never Pearl Harbour (nor Diamond Head).

I believe the #20 bus passing the Airport goes via Pearl Harbour in the mornings or its a cheap Uber.

I understand that extra tickets for the main USS Arizona Memorial go on sale 24hrs before and walk up on the day - would people recommend walk up in mid-Aug (given I'll not be there till 8/9am)
Secondly how large are the lockers at the Memorial - I understand no bags - would they fit a tri-fold suitbag (my carry-on)

Any recommendations for what Memorial packages to get?

Finally anything else in the area of the Memorial worth seeing?

For luggage storage at the airport, check out Aloha Airport Delivery and Storage.

If you catch The Bus, be aware they only let you take luggage on board that can fit under your seat.

Each to their own, but for such a full day stopover I would personally rent a car and carry all your stuff with you. Drive to the Pearl Harbour venue and spend a couple of hours, then also head to the nearby Waikele Premium Outlets shopping centre. So you do some sightseeing and also get in some good outlet shopping. There is a large supermarket at Waikele that has both food and general stuff for some fun souvenir shopping. You could also manage in that day a quick visit to Waikiki Beach. Just make sure you get a GPS - with that everything is quite fast to get around :)

Edit: if you have already done Waikiki you could easily get to the north coast (Haleiwa or Turtle Bay) for lunch instead. Maybe pickup rental, head to Waikele for some morning shopping / provisions, head to the north coast for sightseeing and a "shrimp van" lunch, return to Pearl Harbour for the afternoon, then back to the airport?
