As a regular flyer with over 1000 sc points i see many topics on the board that i am interested in. *Where has it been hiding for the last 4 years..

Welcome! I assume you've deliberately posted in the Virgin section? If so, welcome!

As for platinum - this is totally the place to come to for uninformed speculation about VA platinum. Feel free to join us!

Yes welcome! Lots of useful info here.....with regular lashings of totally irreverant gossip!

yeah, only fly Virgin/V Australia.
so far they have been pretty good. really keen to know what is happening with the new memberships, i thought i was the only one getting excited or that cared. The wife could give a cr@p

Well if we've both racked up 1000 SC's + out of MEL i'm sure we've crossed paths (or will) in lounge out there somewhere!

Sadly my wife isn't excited about Platinum either - although if there is some actual benefit she can use announced that might work.

Hi droche2004,

Welcome to AFF. :D

she is happy when we flew to the US twice and were upgraded to Business class there and back, she was also happy drinking red wine in the lounges!!!!
I have seen lots of regulars at the airport, most times i fly out on a thursday to Sydney, either 6.45 or 7.0am flights, but i also fly to adelaide bris and perth.
haven't booked yet but should be in Brisbane Thursday that said its a day trip i am trying to avoid....

Yes the Business class award tix are appreciated as is the lounge - actually hoping that some kind of partner lounge access/ gold benefit is part of platinum (or at least some transferrable passes) as she often comes to meet me when i'm away and it would be good for her to be able to access the lounge when flying solo.

My schedule is non existent/ random although i've listed the rest of the month here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....t-2011/august-2011-a-30579-11.html#post474995

Plus one on all counts chaps.. the future Mrs Day-Heg shows no interest, but loves actually travelling with me (esp in the Virgin Clubhouse at LHR earlier this year!)... 1000 plus SC (aiming for 1200 by end of Sept in the hope that it's gonne be kept uber-exclusive!), and I'm based in MEL...

See you around!

Just had a look, Balance is 1105 with a review date in November, should reach around 1300 points by then.

I am glad they are doing something as I have complained to them enough about rewarding frequent flyers. Seriously we will double the maximum needed to be at Gold and what do I get?? What makes it more annoying is I have a choice of airlines and could take my business elsewhere.

I really hope they do what they do in the States. Upgrade all top level travelers to business class/first class/premium economy.

Even flying to the States unless you can somehow organize an upgrade prior you are only upgraded to business class if the other cabins are full.

I would like to see the following for Platinum membership.

Exclusive club with high criteria for membership, 1000 + points which is double Gold. That way you can offer more to the right people.
Correct me if I am wrong but don’t Qantas offer lifetime status once you reach the pinnacle? I would like the same.
As for the USA, strict boarding rules, too often they call for Gold members etc and the whole plane boards at once. In the US they call the level they want to board and reject anyone that tries to board out of turn.
Complimentary upgrade for you and travelling guest to Business (or other) class subject to availability.
As per Flexi flights, free meal, reality is per flight there wouldn’t be more than say 3-5 platinum members and if you have reached Platinum you have spent enough money, what’s the cost on a short flight for a free bloody coffee.
Free Foxtel (including movies).... Well that looks to being downgraded as we speak with 50% of flight not available, the other 50% they put it on for free.
Maintain current Gold Privileges.
One change I am wrapped about is the ability to change flights without having to book a flexi flight. I had an argument with Virgin as I was very early for a flight and they would not put me on an earlier flight due to it not being flexi, absolutely ridicules and glad they have changed their position.
Anything else I haven’t thought of.
Done for now.
