I come out on the other side...

This isn't a book that's going to make someone rich, and particularly unlikely to sell many copies in Oz.

Tom obviously has some personal involvement and wants to right a perceived wrong, and at the same time increase overall aviation knowledge.

He's also used his own name, rather than a ... Hey guys, came across this really interesting book tactic, and is seemingly not a one post wonder

So welcome Tom.

Well guys, I guess I do have a lot to contribute. But that depends on what you want to hear. If it's about actually flying and things in the air, I listen to those who know something about it. <snip>

But if you want to talk about air crash investigations, then I spent four years on Swissair 111, and did many before that.

And this post has two excellent reasons to welcome Tom. He's an expert in his field which relates to our hobby/interest/occupation etcetera. He knows his limitations and says he won't comment on things he doesn't know about. Oh, that more members here adhered to these boundaries.

We often speculate about the causes of incidents and what could and should be done about them. Here we have someone who determines the actual cause and issues findings and recommendations.

Basically yet another reference point that helps us get even more knowledge and reference points. With information we can have informed opinions and discuss the incident from a different perspective.

Welcome aboard Tom, I do hope you'll hang around especially when an ill informed 'news report' surfaces.

We have a forecasted 60 cm of snow falling on us today and high winds. More than a foot down already. So it's a matter of staying inside and keeping warm, and waiting for this to blow over. Will have some shoveling to do tomorrow. Hope the power doesn't go out or will have to make my way to the generator. I guess most of you down there are too warm. We could use some of this global warming to get rid of this stuff. Tom

There was a sprinkling of snow in my state over the weekend, while other states were 46+ C (115+ F)

We could use some of this global warming to get rid of this stuff. Tom

Global warming is a misnomer, it simply describes one aspect of climate change... whereas the more common thing you see is changed weather patterns that are becoming increasingly troublesome.

Icecaps melt... more water enters the atmosphere... weather patterns change... process speeds up.
