Hello. ONly 20. I want to try and get 250000 by the end of the year.

Firstly welcome to the forum.

Most things in life need to be earnt.

There are ways to achieve 250K of frequent flyer points if that is your question. However at only 20 you may not have the cashflow, income and/or credit rating to achieve.

FF points are rarely free, though some can be extremely cheap.

TIP ONE: Rather than expect members to PM you....read through the forums many threads and then post appropriate questions in those threads in the main. Or even create new threads with considered questions, but please spend a few days reading the threads first as a lot of the 101 stuff you should be able to gain easily enough. Members are pretty free with their advice.

However just expecting PM's is not likely to gain much of a response.

Hi Lovetravelling Oz,

Thanks for writing to me. I have had a read over many of the treads to get an understanding of what people are doing here. You are right I might not have the income or the cash flow but hopefully I will learn some tricks to make earning those points possible. I understand that the points are not always free and I am happy to pay for the at the right price. I don't actually expect some members to send out some advice but if they do then that would be great.

I see that I can not PM people until I have 15 posts so this is the start of the journey to do that.

Thank you again for posting and I look forward to reading more. If you have any more advice I would love to hear.

Czar

Sorry that was really bad. It is late. If you can help me and would like to then please PM me.

THat is what I was trying to say.

Thanks

Welcome aboard Czar.

A few basic questions which carrier's program are you interested in?
Do you have any credit cards that accumulate points for that program if not that is the first step.
Start applying for some cards that have a sign up bonus but be wary, generally it's recommended no more than 3 card applications in 6 months or 5 in a year.

Personally I've been accumulating points on my citibank credit cards for over 15 years and only started using some in 2011.
Good luck with your goal.

Welcome Your Majesty czar

Are any members of your royal household enrolled in a frequent flyer program? My parents are only occasional travellers and do not chase points/status. I signed them up to the same program as mine so I can transfer their points to my account... This (sky)team effort may also be a (star)ting point on your quest to conquer the (one)world!

Not happy about this. I got a PM from czar which amounted to spam.

Welcome aboard, czar, but read the stickies, browse the forums, search what interests you. There are certainly ways to get lots of FF points cheaply but not necessarily easily. And vice versa.

[Later: On checking, I notice three PMs, all the same!]

I still have no idea what you want. You want people to PM advice to you, about what?!

As medhead begins to point out, this forum is for sharing advice, tips and tricks in threads, which you have admitted to reading many of. Public discussion. Why should anyone feel the need to send you a private message when all the information is already here.

You've made a good first step, you joined and introduced yourself. Now you need to clarify a few things, like who the 20 points you currently hold are with, and where you've been, where you'd like to go, maybe even why you want/need 250,000 points? These things, this discussion, should all be public, like it is for every other member here.

I don't know why you think you should get advice privately, what makes you so special? ;)

So firstly sorry to Spam you. I read on another tread that some things are not always discussed on the forum because some of the companies see the loop holes and hence people do not talk about then publicly. Hence why the private message. I contacted you because you alluded to such a point. Thanks again for the advice and sorry again for the email. I did not think that it went through to tell you the truth because there is a message saying that I can not send PM until I have 15 posts.

Just some ideas about how to earn point that people might not discuss on the public forum.

No one should feel that they should PM any information. Secondly why I would like to earn some miles is because I really like traveling. i would like to go to Brazil at the end of the year for the 2014 world cup. My I have 20K with ANZ QFF. I would like to apply for the EDR card and also the DJ Amex. Would applying for these 2 cards be to much to ask?

Thanks for the support in my mission. I will keep you updated.

Many thanks

Matt

No my parents do not do this, I have asked my mother but she is pretty reluctant. I will give it another go and see what happens.

Good idea though.

Many thanks

Read every single post in every single thread. That'll be a good start. Everything is here in publicly available form somewhere or other.

No worries, Matt. My parents live overseas so it's free for them to join Qantas Frequent Flyer. You may need to offer to pay the joining fee for your mum (and organise her flights in future as well so that you're in control)...

At the moment there are lots of offers for them to join QFF for free, so this is no problem. It is just a position that my parents hold regarding CC and information collection.

That is all. I will try and work on my mother.

The thing about discussing loop holes that are less public knowledge is you'll find many reluctant to share that information with someone that's just registered. A certain level of trust may be involved.

When I joined the site in 2009, within a month of joining I'd made my way to a "drinks night" and met some of the members, and started learning where to look, or info that wasn't posted. Meeting strangers off the internet is of course, not for everybody, but it certainly works for this website.

Thanks. I will most likely attend both events. I look forward to it.
