Hello. This is interesting for DJ Golds living in Perth, Canberra & Adelaide

Etihad eyes Perth and Adelaide for Australian expansion - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

Maybe a new DJ / Etihad lounge at Adl? And access to the Etihad network from Adl with a DJ Gold card could alter my EU flight partner. Very interesting news.

In addition the Canberra airport extension looks fantastic and will give DJ a new lounge there as well:

Well I hope if CBR does ever get international flights back its more successful than last time!

I was referring to the Air Pacific Flights.

No need for a new lounge in ADL as the existing VA lounge would service an international departure just as well as a domestic departure - Qantas doesn't have a separate international lounge facility for QF81 to SIN and CX don't maintain a lounge.

In fact you could wonder whether SQ could now send their passengers on SQ278 to the VA lounge instead?

Hey nothing wrong with a nice shiny new DJ Lounge for Adl so I can guest my WP mates that think DJ sucks. But yes there are no dedicated international lounges at Adl. All Adl lounges service domestic and international passengers as the "International Terminal" is just a few gates that can be isolated from the others during International departures with a dedicated Immigration and Security screening section. When there are no international departures, those gates can serve as a domestic gates. There is however a dedicated international arrivals section on the ground floor.

Isn't there a SQ SilverKris lounge?

Floor plan here:

There does appear to be a SQ lounge as part of the international transit area on floor 1. Never knew it was there. Looks like it is accessed via a lift "L" or escalator "E" from inside the International departures area and is very small.

Qantas were to have an international Business lounge in the initial designs. Even when the terminal opened the plans were still active. I guess they were canned, as, looking at the map, the area noted for the SQ lounge takes up part of the area Qantas had originally been allocated.

Note that AirNZ employ the ADL QP for their international flights.

I think Malaysian also uses the Adl QP for their international customers. Interesting to know that space is available on the 1st floor in the Adl international transit area.

I guess CX also use the QP.

There's not a OW lounge on the international side of ADL AP so CX J and OWE pax just join the throng waiting for take off time.

Or they use the ADL QP before immigration like many of the other airlines that have been mentioned already in this thread.

I would be surprised if Virgin Australia/Etihad/Singapore/Air New Zealand wouldn't want to build a really flash joint lounge in ADL.
Maybe REX would even move in as well?

Yes, all QF, MH, NZ and CX premium passengers in ADL use the Qantas Club before immigration. The lounge staff even make an announcement for Malaysia and Cathay pax to leave and proceed through immigration at a nominated time (don't know about NZ, but I would guess so).

The biggest problem lies for CX transit pax. As some might be aware, Cathay operates ADL-HKG flights via Melbourne, which means some passengers on the inbound flight are simply transiting through Adelaide before going home to Melbourne. I've been told that premium pax arriving on this flight can't access any lounge in Adelaide for the brief stopover before the new flight (CX104) departs to Melbourne and then Hong Kong.

Since Emirates have been ambivalent re: commencing services to ADL, I hope EY is serious about this. If SQ can make double-daily flights work over the summer, there must be some potential.

two options, one is obviously more likely and one is obviously cooler than the other:

Yup, been caught out with this before. You get to sit with the hordes in a glass cage for 90 minutes :-/

IMHO that won't happen - I can't see the cost benefit.

Interestingly the First image blues bit is about the same location as the de-planned QF lounge.

For those in Perth, looks like you're getting a bigger lounge: Virgin Australia to expand Perth airport lounge - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

Also, I wasn't aware they're building a whole new terminal. Hopefully they'll build a nice lounge with premium entry there as well! :)

On a side note, I did a search for the super low points fares in business to Perth yesterday and it looks like they've taken out the 6900 point deal. :(
