Help calculating J rewards

Hi all,

First time looking for awards seats using Velocity points and I'm wondering if I'm calculating my points redemptions wrong or whether there's some fine print in the T&C of the programe that I'm missing that can explain the difference.

Planning to book an award seat back on QR from PER to DUB via DOH next year (see attached image). Being quoted 250,800 points for J award seat.

However, if you break down the cost according to the awards tables in J:
PER - DOH: 5789 miles - 78,000 points
DOH - DUB: 3528 miles - 57,000 points
Total 135000 points

This is almost twice what the awards seat is meant to cost! Could anyone explain why? TIA.

The 250,800 points quoted includes paying for all taxes and surcharges with points. You will note in smaller print a price of 121,000 pts plus $777 and change -- that's the taxes and surcharges in cash terms. When paying there's a slider which allows you to decide how much to pay in points and how much in cash anywhere between those two prices.
