Help me with my dilemma! To upgrade or not.

Hi great wise people! I am struggling with the decision to upgrade my flight in February. I have put in a points request to upgrade my flight SYD-JNB on Feb 8 from J - F. I am now having second thoughts though.
I have just received a free pass for the First Lounge as a Gold member (i will become platinum during this trip, so really don't need to save the pass), so this was one big reason for the upgrade.
I have secured an upper deck exit row seat for this flight, so probably the best seat in the cabin. It is a day time flight, so fully flat beds not particularly important.
The only difference I would see would be the quality of the catering, which is something I do look forward to when flying. Having said that, I have always found catering in International J to be quite good.
I have checked flight loads on Expert Flyer, it is showing F9 A9 P1 (still a first award seat left!) J2 C0 D0 I0 so Business is very full, poss oversold. I would expect that the Points request would be an almost certainty, and op ups to be likely (although would be nice to be WP before this flight to increase chances)
Interested to hear everyones opinion on whether they would upgrade on not given these circumstances

Depends on how many points you have in your account, and whether you may have a better use for them at a later time (such as upgrading Y - J). As you are asking the question, I would assume you do not have virtually unlimited points through business cc spend, so points are important to you. Day time flight, FLounge invite, row 16 allocated, I would not spend the points for the upgrade myself.

Agree, I would not be spending the points, on upgrade J to F.

Seriously, if you haven't been in F, a daytime flight may not be a bad idea to fully enjoy it, rather than having a night flight where you sleep most of it away.

If it was an A380 I'd say go for it, but I'd settle for the upper deck exit row seat on the 747.
