I'm the woman who posted the first detailed V Australia TR many, many months ago.

Well, as anyone living totally on their own in the world with no family and no friends shown to be trustworthy knows, when your life starts to fall apart, it tends to get much, much, much worse before it improves.

As a result, I need my US passport number and issue/expiration details, which I have had to give when making V Australia and QF reservations. And I'm hoping someone here will know how I can get them from one airline or the other. For sure, reservations at either airline wasn't a help, and they couldn't transfer me to anyone who had this information.

Why do I need this?

In the past 18 months, I've lost my job, all but $1000 or so of my savings due to having had to live off it for 18 months (even someone reasonably well off can end up with nothing after 18 months of no income and assorted bad events), my best friend (a couple months after I helped him through the "toughest time in his life" with emotional and financial and roof support, he wanted nothing to do with me when I needed a hug after my life turned bad), a bunch of clothes and other items I had kept with a friend in Oz (who sold them when she decided she didn't want them taking up space in her place any more when I had to go back to the US to handle an emergency), and now, my most valuable personal possessions (expensive camera, notebook computer), $1500 US cash and $700 Australian cash when my purse was stolen (since I'm staying in budget accommodation and it wasn't safe to leave it in my room).

Well, I got the nifty job I came to Australia to win (YAY! I derive lots of satisfaction from doing my job well, and I've missed working), though it has been at that tremendous cost of losing most everything worth anything I had left ($5000 of personal effects and cash) -- to the point that I reckon I'm gonna have to hope I have enough frequent flyer points to get home, as part of that cash was to buy my return ticket to the US to get back to apply for the 457 visa I need for the job and sell the bit I have left and close up my apartment rental there, so that I could come back to live in Oz.

Because I've got almost no cash left, it's iffy for me to use this $8/hr pay internet, and the best way to get in touch with me is through my Australian mobile phone rather than electronically. So I'm going to take a risk and post the number here if someone can help me get my passport info: <redacted>.

Thanks

Sorry to hear of your misfortune heleno.

A thought: Will PP numbers show in amadeus www.checkmytrip.com?

Old bookings stay in there for quite some time so perhpas entering the QF booking number into there would be a possibility to find it.

A visit to the US embassy would also be worthwhile if the passport is lost as you'll need to report it (identity fraud).

Docjames, that was a great idea I hadn't thought of! Thanks. Alas, no passport in the records there. (I was surprised, though, to find past itineraries hanging around there that long.)

CrazyDave from DJ contacted me offline and was able to get me the required info due to conversations we'd previously had in which my passport number was mentioned at some point. (Virgin Blue / V Australia, if you don't already know how lucky you are to have that helpful guy on your staff, let me tell you that he is a fabulous customer relations asset and you are indeed very lucky. I'm only Silver with DJ, so it's unexpected and memorable to get that level of customer service.)

The consulate (and also the Australian ETA visa person I checked with to see what loss of passport would do to my ETA visa) was very happy when I provided them with the passport number so that they could look me up in their records. So, that's one problem solved (just another dozen or two to go).
