My family is flying J on EY from Jakarta - London return later this year. I’m not sure when or if we would ever fly EY again, so I’m trying to figure out the best way to get some value form the rewards miles. Pretty much all my domestic flying is QF.
The EY calculator says we would earn about 14k miles x 4 pax.
The only thing I can think of is to credit to VA, then potentially we could use for a family domestic trip? But have not flown VA for years, and have no status so I’m not sure whether this will deliver any benefit.
Any suggestions would be very gratefully received.

Might be messy, but if you transfer them to each person's VA account, you could then family pool them. 56K points isn't bad; can be used for a major trip or many smaller ones. (I'm assuming EY to VA is 1:1)

I have small amounts of hotel points kicking around in several accounts. Eventually I get enough to subsidise a stay; not amazing but a bit of a kicker ...

Would it make sense to credit them all to American Airlines so you can spend them on QF?

Otherwise - EY Guest allows AA/VA/NZ/SV/WY/GF/AC and many other redemptions.

Otherwise - VA Velocity for all their partners if you just want miles to spend and start building status for two of your family members if they fly on VA and partners instead of QF?

Thanks for the suggestions.
i can see that EY Guest does offer more redemption options, but how easy are they to get in the real world? So if for example we wanted flights for the family SYD - OOL or SYD - AKL would one give us better award availability than the other? Im used to the limited world of QF awards….

Wouldn’t there be a shedload of VA SCs also via Family Pooling in VFF (4x J SCs CGK-AUH-LHR return)?

But you‘d still need some eligible sectors to lock in VA Gold (x4 sectors) or Platinum (x8 sectors).

1 trip is not a good basis for a new ffp.
The earning rate can/does vary depending on the fare booking class. May not be 1 to 1.
Beware of ff miles expiry.
Pooling ff miles/points can he hard. Is uncommon.
VA may be best bet, even if used for AU short east coast flight. VA only fly to ZQN in New Zealand. Yet to return to AKL CHC.
Offish topic, QF in unusual in that QF points can be transferred, at no cost, to eligible family members. Is common with other ffp's to have a $ cost to transfer.

I think crewing to VA is the way to go - pooling option is available and probably just easiest way to manage it
