Just noticed the Herald Sun is only now visible to people with paid subscriptions. Will anybody pay to read what they can get on ABC?
Saw a bit about this on the box. Talked about restricting access to Andrew Bolt's opinion. That can only raise the collective IQ of Australia.
What will be funny is if they have a genuine scoop and put it behind the pay wall where no one can access it.
Looks like the people playing HeraldSun's Supercoach are complaining the most.
Might take a while for the paywall to work at all.
You'll find that only premium content will be behind the paywall. Breaking news never would be simply as other outlets report it too. But like it or lump it more content will end up behind paywalls simply because it costs a lot of money to collect the news.
Yes, all those bribes, out of court settlements, paid-for-coments of those who should not be comenting on anything anytime,,,,,,,,,
Snide comments aside I was referring in general about how much it costs. Collecting news, sending it back and publishing and consistently doing it isn't cheap.
Hordes will pay to read Bolt. Not interested in the socialist sludge they publish out at ABC Drum!
And i understand this, but still can't bring myself to pay for news in Australia. Self defeating circle really. Trashy journalism means i don't buy, me not buying means trashy and cheap news happens.
According to a presser from The Australian this morning over 30,000 have taken up the digital pass since the launch.
AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements
Is that still in the free offer period? It was 3 or 6 months for free? Either 30,000 isn't that impressive to me considering that home subscribers get free access to the online content. I would assume The Oz has more than 30,000 home subscribers.

I accept good journalism is expensive, and worth paying for. However, I don't associate the Herald Sun with good journalism. Used to like The Australian, but that has gone down some strange path in the last few years.....
