Herald Sun Pay Wall

That as certainly been mentioned before!! I would though challenge anyone to dispute the sport coverage of the Herald Sun. That's the side of the paper I normally read...

Maybe if they through the rest away, and just published the sports section, it may be a good paper.

I signed up with The Australian for their 3 month trial. It expired (early Feb) and then I was cut off from the content as I didn't see the need to continue the relationship......interestingly, I've noticed that more & more of the The Aus content is now available for free & they are again offering 28 days free trial.

I'm not inclined to pay for view at this stage as there are many alternative sources that provide the same thing for free. Can't see the landscape changing all that quickly.

This same organisation provides their hard copy product "papers" free to many businesses to enhance their circulation numbers. I suspect after reading some recent articles the numbers accessing The Aus on line - have not been that flash lately.

I strongly suspect that amaroo is right there - I suspect the hits on the Oz website have fallen through the cellar. I had my free subs cut out and as I visited the site less and less I didn't even notice that the free trials had re-started. That is the real gamble with the freemium-subscriber model - is that your audience tunes out and finds other alternatives. Then you have to go out and find your audience again...

IIRC correctly free giveaways don't count in the official audits. The Age was stung on that a while back.

Most of the breaking news you can see, however the stuff that is exclusive to heraldsun is usually behind a paywall but their are ways around the paywall. eg. clicking from google news, deleting Herald Sun cookies.

I wonder when the heraldsun will concede defeat?

All back to normal now with the paywall in full effect

Last night I could read any article on the homepage though

Someone must have turned it off for a few hours
