Here it is - ~48 hours to get to all capital airports in AUS flying VA

This also made me think of people trying to do all the Sydney CityRail stations in a day. If anything it's harder!

How fast could you get around the world I wonder?
What would the rules be? Every single county in the world?

How fast could you get around the world I wonder?

Hopefully faster than 80 days...

What are the parameters? Cause I can think of SYD-DXB-LHR-LAX-SYD being probably the quickest out of Australia.

SYD-xDXB-LHR QF1 1700-0620 (+1)
LHR-LAX BA283 1025-1430
LAX-SYD QF12 2220-0720 (+2)

Total of 2 days 14 hours and 20 minutes from leaving to arriving in SYD on *O. There's a lot of dead time waiting for flights so a quicker option may be available if you use *A or *S or mix and match airlines regardless of alliance.

Im prob ignorant here, but I was under the impression someone was doing direct flights from AUS - LHR these days... Maybe air france?

No one currently. The closest would be SYD-IST on Turkish Airlines planed to start next year. Besides Air France would fly AUS-CDG.

Maybe I was dreaming... I could have sworn I once saw a flight MEL-CDG.

Scratch that.
SYD-DXB QF8413/EK413 2145-0515 (+1)
DXB-LHR BA108 1005-1400
LHR-LAX BA269 1500-1905
LAX-SYD QF12 2220-0720 (+2)

Makes that 2 days 9 hours and 35 minutes.

If worried about the 60 minute connection at LHR, replace DXB-LHR BA108 with DXB-LHR QF8001/EK1 0745-1135. Doesn't change overall time taken though.

I think that route covers the general "around the world" rules passing through two antipodal points? Think of the sailing challenges where you have to go at least a certain distance north and south of the equator to qualify. If you just flew SYD-SCL-JNB-SYD I don't think you'd tick that box!

Is there a decent connection in dxb to allow

SYD-DXB-JFK-LAX-SYD?

They didn't like our original proposal, and it's a lot harder than I expected to get approval to jump on a plane with a pocket camera and film your trip. Am working with a few people in PR and production to put together an actual professional proposal and will submit to them once we have something together.

Ah ok, well, looking eagerly forward to the results.
