Hi,

Should we get the gold reward points on spending towards the insurance products? Such as the max protection cover?

Thanks a lot.

I believe so.

Just got confirmed with the Gold Reward team, only the base daily rental is eligible for the points accumulation.

The optional product, including the insurance? No.

This sounds not quite align with my past experience. How do you guys find on this?

Seems things have changed. I checked a booking made in 2017 and points were awarded.

Points can be earned only for base rental cost. Any addons like location fee, extra cover etc don’t earn. It was always the case as far as I can remember.

For short term rentals it’s better to go for United miles earn (minimum 2k) rather than Hertz points.

I think that I also got points on insurance in the past. Just checked the T&C last night, it states that only points on base rentals. :(

Thanks for the head up. Other than United, any other options worth to consider? Thanks

There’s the usual BA, KF and VA options but I’m not aware of any specific bonus currently offered that is higher than UA. Note that UA bonus is per rental (min two days) so for longer rentals you may consider Hertz points or crediting to your preferred FF programme.

Thanks for the info.
