It would appear that Hertz rates have gone through the roof. Am I using the wrong CDP? I am using the Virgin Atlantic CDP which I thought was OK in the past.

I have been trying to hire a car the following times and Hertz is ~$20 more expensive than Avis

- this weekend in BNE
- In November in HVB and Hertz office closes ~2:00pm on weekends
- In November in CNS
- In December in BNE

Any ideas? I do like to split the weekend rentals between Avis and Hertz.

No need for PM. My dates are in the meetings thread.

HVB - Weekend 9-11 November
CNS - Weekend 16-18 November

Hervey Bay is almost impossible as rental office closed early and for CNS rate I see for smallest car is ~$64 where as Avis rate is $46.

ok for Hervey Bay I got $53 and for Cairns I got $51...this was for both a Yaris and picking up at 10am and dropping back at 10am on the dates above you gave me

Thanks. That is a sizeable difference in CDP's!

Anyone have any publicly available Hertz CDP's closer to corporate rates? Tiger? Jetstar?

It's my own company's corporate code which I set up direct with Hertz, any of my staff can use if I book for them.

Sorry don't have any other ideas re codes...but have you tried the Vroom Vroom site?

The Virgin guest CDP comes in $2 cheaper per day, it's a public rate.

Unfortunately the Virgin guest CDP rate is still $15 more than the Avis rate.

I think this will be put in the too hard basket. I have hired an Avis car for the Friday and then a different car (slight more expensive) for the Saturday. Should be OK unless points do not credit automatically the first time around (which can happen) and then I would need to follow up the 2 claims separately.

may be worth taking out the CDP and retrying, hertz play games when you enter them sometimes trying to get you to book a higher rate

I have tried many different ways.

Hertz appears to not be offering discounted car hire where as Avis is still discounting.

I'm just going through the same process of finding a car rental for January. (Most do not have their January rates released as yet)

I try Avis, Thrifty, and Hertz, and see what comes up the best. If you are a member of a motoring organization like NRMA you get a 15% discount.

Avis is through the roof and double Thrifty and Hertz rates. My Avis card doesn't do much in the way of discounts.

The Wizard card? Do not use this card as the rates are ridiculous.

No I don't use this rate as it places me in the luxury class car just the card for bookings and payments. Used Avis September in Alice Springs area wanted a 4x4 these come with mileage so I chose extra mileage over price but in the end worked out the same.

Just an interesting point, I have just reserved a car through Avis.

My first exercise was to price check -

Hertz - about $450
Thrifty with NRMA 15% off - about $450
Avis no discount this came to about $900 dollars them did a check with a corporate Pxx_xx_ number, this showed up as $450.

Then though - I may as well add my Avis card and the Pxx_xx_ number and this reverted back to the $900 mark. So in booking I just used a corporate Pxx_xx_ number.

In my exercise, Avis was the best deal, even all came to about the same rate. But as a bonus with Avis I when from group B to group D car, plus Qantas points and better drop off location without one way fees.

Have been find Avis prices recently well ahead of Hertz on similar level corporate programs. Convenient for me as I've finally lost patience with Hertz and their rubbish systems.

Sad for Hertz as I was very loyal but I don't think I'll be moving back in a hurry. Good for Avis though.

1757580 is the one I use most

Just tried that with 7-12 jan - perth airport ret - Holden Cruze your price $481 (no extras). With my code number $239.(no extras) which is half.

Just checked Thrifty with NRMA discount is still $414 - details as above. Looks as if Hertz are a bit cheaper not sure which is the comparable car to the Cruze.
