And now mine just says Diamond, no status bar at all and no comment that they are updating the status bar. I shall wait patiently....

The check-out day is the one that counts - even if a 20 days stay over December with the check out being 1 Jan . Have done this over the last 3 years :)

This works against you in promos, but has it's benefits at times. If you have a stay during a promo, make sure you are wholly within the promo dates.

Now I may be wrong, but I'm sure there have been promos where a continuous stay that exceeds the promo period still counts for the x number of days within the promo period but excludes the days outside the promo period....

Is there any way of telling when your status expires? I don't have a card?

March 31st

So if I make a booking now for say July, and I am now Diamond but by the time the stay comes I'll be Gold, what status will the hotel see? The status at time of booking or at time of stay?

Nothing here:

(I transfer all my points to AA after the great devaluation, so ignore my low points value )

I never knew that !!!
Just worked out I have enough to go in F to LHR

My thermometer just appeared. Have I got Diamond for another year? I did a lot of nights but can't really remember; thought I may have fallen just short.

I had the standard two-year comp from VA Platinum which expires this March.

I just checked and my barometer is back.

The Status Jump Start promotion they ran late last year means I may qualify on Stays this year, usually I make it on base points.

Yep, you are correct - it is simply a current year barometer.

My card shows an expiry in ten weeks time and I see the 'in 2015' as well. I only had 10 qualifying stays in 2014.

I know I didn't requalify as Diamond, but mine is confusing, as I am not sure if I am now diamond until March 2014 or March 2015, as the extra line saying to maintain Diamond for 2015 I need 60 nights, which would imply I have diamond for 2014.

This is the confusing part and a bit of an unknown. I'm thinking it indicates diamond until 31 March 2014 as I seem to recall others stating their status dropped at the end of March in previous years.

Very confusing - I re-qualified for Diamond on stays and my status says "To maintain Diamond for 2015, you need 60 nights".
However, my son who is Gold has not re-qualified but his says
"To maintain Gold for 2015, you need 37 more nights". I wonder if he has Gold for another year?

JMFK should go and stay in Cairns. The GM there was flabbergasted at the nearly 500,000 I had last October. Not sure how he would react to someone with 700,000.

Lucky you too! I'll have to find out your secret ;)

I wish I had your points :D.

Haha. Let's just say I have a number in mind and I haven't hit it yet!

Interestingly my barometer doesn't say how many more nights I need to stay to qualify for 2015 like everyone else's seems too.

Just to be sure that everyone is aware that the barometer can be made to read stays required, nights required and/or points required and it is which ever you reach first that is relevant.
