HHonors Points and Money Rewards

The website normally offers them (if available) if you select "Use HHonors Points" before a search.

It will then include the various points options where available in the search results which you can select - there may be several different room types with different levels.

I had the same question as beardoc, so it looks like I have been doing it correctly then and there's just no P+P rooms available for July 19 or 20 @ Hilton Stockholm Slussen.

Hi all

Any further tips on this? I am thinking of an award stay next year for me and the family which would require two rooms (in DXB) - I wouldnt mind tying points plus pay to reduce the points cost of multiple rooms. I tried a dummy booking just for night next year and only got a points option.

It seems that hotels are very variable at offering P&P - I wonder if contacting the hotel directly would help?

From my experience (therefore limited) P&P seems to apply when bookings are low and then disappear as the hotel fills.

Without me reading back over all this thread (sorry if this is OT) but the other thing to remember that does weigh in to a smaller degree if P+P is unavailable is the diamond points discount when staying multiple nights (from memory, discount starts around the forth night and increases to a peak around the sixth night). Drops a 50K night to about 37.5K at max. disc.)

I have made a points+pay booking at Hilton Perth for a basic room for $80+25 000 points on a Saturday night. The room was retailing for (IIRC) $260. If my maths works, this values 25000 points at $180 or 0.7c a point, and I was willing to pay the hotel in full so I feel it is not a dodgy comparison. First question- does this logic stand up?

Next- I have a booking at the Conrad Tokyo. Fully refundable 38 000 JPY a night, for 3 nights. I can buy the AP rate for 34 000 so my final rate would be 102 000 JPY total. I just has a look at my dates again and P+P is available at 25 000points+11940 JPY a night. Total 75000 points and 35 820 JPY. I think this values 75000 points at 66180 JPY and at today's XE rate, just under $810. Point/dollar value here is 1.08c/point.

So. Does this sound like good value? Have I missed something/forgotten something? Is the reward, including points stay fully refundable too (it seems to indicate this in the booking details)?

I'm not sure of the accepted value of an HH point but suspect it is normally less than 1c/point as I earnt some of them at 30-40 points per dollar...

It does in my books. I am finding that the P+P option on Hilton rooms tends to more closely reflect the 'true' value room rate. Sometimes when the hotel starts filling up the revenue rate can double or more, yet the P+P rate will still show you what the room should or would normally cost.

I have done a heap of crunching based upon this theory and the result for me is that a HH points is worth about 0.5c. Anything worse and I won't trade them, 0.5c or better and I will.

Hilton Brisbane $66 plus 20,000 points a couple of months ago. I thought it was great value. I saw HOTP yesterday at 20,000 plus $60. Room rate at the time was $229

I keep looking for rates of >1c/point. The best I have found are the 7 day GLON awards in cities like New York, where it's possible to get redemption values of US1.7-1.8c/point.
