HHonors Recognition when hotel booked through 3rd party websites

Let us know how you go :)

I book 3 night at Surfers Paradise this week through Wofif not knowing that I may not receive my Diamond benefits... :(

Although, minus the points issue (which is understandable because Wotif offer discounted rates), I cannot find anything on the HHonors website that says I won't get the diamond benefits.

So I called up the hotel this evening and they happily added my hhonors account # to my booking and made a note that I would like an upgrade to a suite if available :)

So finger crossed that it all works out OK!

It seems that in general, once the HHonors number is added then you'll be fine for the bennies - but not always.

Let me assist you with the T&C's (my bolding): (http://hhonors3.hilton.com/en/terms/index.html#accrual_of_points)

Specifically excluded from the definition of "stay" are the following types of ineligible stays: wholesale/tour operator packages; contracted crew rates; travel agency discount rates; Team Member Travel rates, Hilton Family Travel Rates; stays secured utilizing Hilton Grand Vacations Club and Hilton Club timeshare programs, Hilton Grand Vacations marketing packages with a sales presentation requirement; complimentary or barter rooms; Reward Stays (as defined herein); NET Group rates; Series Group or IT Group rates; contracted Entertainment or Encore rates; third party websites bookings (irrespective of rate paid); and "opaque" channel bookings where the brand may or may not be known at the time of purchase.

Interesting. I have been a HH member for several years and never really did much about it and it lapsed. I recently tried to reawaken it after a stay in the USA booked through a TA.
These T and Cs were very politely and very firmly pointed out me and then they very nicely credited the stay anyway and I have been rusted on ever since. Took up the Virgin status match and Hilton and and I have been friends ever since.
Not suggesting that it could happen to you (the wotif booking)...just pointing out the good business sense of the Hilton help centre

Myself and a friend stayed at 2 hotels only a few months ago, both 1 nighters @ the airports. Both were booked via cheap sites (ie: expedia / bookings.com / maby qantas holidays...). During the 2nd hotel, they asked if we would like to join their club. Points have been credited for that 1 night night stay.

Just today, I decided to TRY to claim from the previous hotel, as the checkin from hotel 2 said we couldn't claim points from the previous one a few nights before.

Expedia has a rate of $139 for Buenos Aires in January cf to $199 direct. I attempted to call HHonours to see if they could match on BRG, however the operator in the USA had never heard of it and after speaking to the supervisor gave me the line I had to book expedia and then put in a claim. Reading posts on flyertalk did not fill me with confidence that this would be honoured so I ended up booking neither as it would be a gamble as to whether my diamond status would be recognised via Expedia.

That's really ordinary, as it is on the Hilton website: Our Best Rates. Guaranteed.

Does not apply to 3rd party bookings (hidden in the T&Cs)
If you are referring the BRG then that is incorrect, see here: (Our Best Rates. Guaranteed.)
In fact, we promise that if you find a lower rate through any other booking channel, we’ll match that rate you found plus: ...
If you are referring to Honors Recognition and 3rd party bookings, you are correct, although sometimes one may get the benefits (generally though an agent error).

I managed to get a price match honoured against wotif.com for Hilton Brisbane - I called HH and asked them to match it. I'm HH Gold and after a bit of to-and-fro, they agreed and I got the cheaper rate booked directly by the agent with the Gold benefits during my stay, ie. upgrade to Exec, free Wi-Fi, etc. The weird thing was that a FedEx package arrived a couple of months later from Hilton that contained a US$50 Amex Prepaid Gift Card! There was no note with it, no explanation, except that it can only be used at U.S. merchants that accept Amex (I tried to use it here, anyway, but no go). I can only assume I received it because of the BRG. I'm certainly not complaining, it will come in handy on my next U.S. trip.

This is a major beneifit with a successful Hilton PMG booking in that is it is done though Hilton channels it fully qualifies for all the status bennies ...

Just checked into the Hilton New York Fashion District. I'm a HHonors Gold member, but booked via my travel agent because it was cheaper (Hilton didn't want to price match as I had no written quote). Had to argue with front desk for my breakfast vouchers. Internet was free when I connected and entered my details. Might try asking for my 2 bottles of water. I understand an 'Upgrade' at this hotel is a room on the higher floors, although my room is somewhere mid-level.

Are you sure the rate qualified for benefits?

While the TA is a "third party", some rates may qualify for the benefits.

I have booked at this hotel with the Wotif Mystery deal (was about $200 a night cheaper than what Hilton could give me and included free parking and some other stuff.)

Trying to get a confirmation number out of Hilton and they say that they cannot find my booking anywhere - tried both the hotel directly and the reservations line. Also contacted Wotif who couldn't give a Hilton conf number but said the booking is definitely confirmed. Anyone had success getting this number out of Hilton (mainly want the free breakfast for Gold, but a room upgrade would be good also!)

The booking was done almost a week ago now also.

UPDATE: Contacted Wotif again and asked them to reconfirm with the hotel. After the Wotif representative contacted Hilton, the stay has automatically appeared in my account, and I had an email confirmation come through, with the options for Request on Arrival and NOR1 Upgrades. The reservation however cannot be managed online.

Did one reservation at HSW last year through Wotif and after a somewhat tortuous call to the Diamond desk I got my HH number added to the res and was treated as per normal when I arrived, upgraded as usual and expected points credited.

I am in this dilemma at the moment!

I can book through Hotelclub and get 10 Amex points per $1 for a few weekends I need to book, so that's about 5000-6000 points which is worth about $300 in flights later on.

OR

I can book through Hilton.com and get some almost worthless Hilton points

NB: I dont' care about retaining Status

Although Free breaky, WiFi, an upgrade and Exec lounge access at the Conrad Singapore could almost be worth $300.......
