Hi all, my first post
I am not a frequent flyer and have only just joined QFF program after finding this site and finding some answers.
I think that I have less that 50 flights in my 50+ years and 10 of them have been in the last 2.5 years.
The information is great and I often come here and read the posts even though I have nothing to contribute.
My flight options are limited by the airlines that fly out of Alice Springs (537km away from me) or Darwin (1000km away) .
Any flights I do, starts with what I call the robbery stage (having to fly from Alice Spring to a capital city) and I often find that the flight from Alice Springs more expansive than the total of all the other legs combined, but I do chose to live up here.

In the next few years I plan to start travelling, starting with a trip to India Kerala in Sep for a wedding, a trip to the USA and in 2015 plan to do a 6 to 12 month working trip through Norway and the rest of Europe.

All the abbreviations are making it hard for me and I assume the average novice to follow the posts on a particular topic, and yes I did find a page with a lot of terminology on it but have since lost its location, My suggestion is for all the abbreviation to show the meaning when you hover the mouse over them just like when you hover the mouse over PAX and it tell you “passenger” , I still don’t know what J class is or SC and all the 3 characters for destinations, I just give up on trying to work out where people have or are going to.
I like the idea that you offer a searching type service and will most likely use it but at this point I don’t qualify to post there yet.
Thank you for a great reference site.
Eric

Good to have you on board Eric. You don't need to fly as much as some on this board to get not only a benefit but also enjoyment. It's a good way to make the hard earned go a bit further.

Matt

Welcome to the forum

J class is businesses class (that we all like/hope travel in)
SC are status credits (from flying) The more SC you get in a year, the higher up the freq flyer status tree you go with the benefits that go with status (Silver Gold Platinum)

Welcome to AFF tch0t1!

If you have had close to 50 flights in your lifetime that is still a lot more than most people.

Hi there! I used to live in sunny Tennant Creek! Bet the dam is particularly murky at this time of year!

Welcome to AFF Eric. What with you and an ex resident maybe we will have to think of Tennant Creek for an AFF get together!

Hi Eric

Ah, fond memories of the Memo Club (IIRC ?) at Tennant Creek. Couple of games of squash followed by shower, few frothies and big steak dinner. Of course that was, er, a few years ago. Quite a few years ago.

I have been here since late 1978 when TAA and Ansett had 2 flights each a day out of Tennant Creek and the dam water is as muddy as always but it has now had a name change to Lake Marry Ann

Welcome to AFF....not happy with Tennant Creek though. We booked a trip on The Ghan in June last year but received a phone call in Darwin to say there had been a derailment in Tennant Creek and The Ghan could not get through. They flew us from DRW to ASP and joined the train to ADL
