Hi! My name is Emma and I’ve just recently joined. I used to be a fantastic flyer, had a bad experience and got scared off for a while. Well im Back over that and eager to travel with my little family.

I just applied for some credit cards to start accruing Qantas FF points, with the hope of also nabbing a discounted lounge membership when they go on sale again (hopefully)!

I have a silly question, when I use my credit card to pay for things, can I pay the balance straight away, like that day? Does that affect points at all? Do I wait a few days or once that purchase occurs points are mine. Sorry if that sounds silly. I just don’t want to lose points by paying my balance off straight away.

Also, any recommendations on a good QFF credit card? We just did one for hubby through (NAB) we bank with them.
Plan to cancel it once we get the bonus points after spending and apply at a new bank for bonus points etc. do banks catch onto this? Any tips?? Thanks!

Thanks and wait a cool community!

Emma

Welcome to AFF.

As this is a welcome thread it's best to raise your questions in the appropriate threads. I'd encourage you to do some reading to find out about the world of churning, which is discussed extensively on AFF.

You will find recently discussed credit card offers here:

Welcome to AFF @Emmabyrnes88

No silly questions here - else I'd be the silliest!!

I don't think paying off a card straight away would affect points accrual but leaving it a few days might enable you to make sure the charge is correct and final;ised.

Do you want to pay it off straight away so you still have credit limit to keep spending??

Welcome Emma. I hope you put the bad experiences behind you and start to enjoy flying again. I think others have answered your other questions.
Thank you! Yes loving it again which is awesome

This is a good place to see where we're at:

And if you have your nearest airport listed in your profile (or home town) people sometimes look for locals to attend an event.

Good day Emma! I just started the churning process too with NAB Signature and will move on to Qantas Premier shortly.
