Hilton Worldwide’s loyalty program, Hilton HHonours, and Garuda Indonesia, have announced a new partnership which will see members of both GarudaMiles and Hilton HHonours earn points across both loyalty programs when they stay at any hotel from the Hilton Worldwide Portfolio.

Through the new partnership, members of both GarudaMiles and Hilton HHonours can earn ten HHonours Base Points, and one GarudaMiles mile for every US dollar spent during their stay at any property within the Hilton portfolio.

I've always feared Garuda. Do they have reasonable redemptions?

Ive never redeemed from them so don't know.

I have recently flown with them and the quality is now quite good - full service airline, new planes, good prices.

The point of this post is because of the 10x Hilton points.

Surely worth signing up to Garuda even if no desire to ever fly.

All Hilton stays earn 10x base points per USD spent (at most brands) and 1 mile per USD in your chosen miles program if you choose the airline miles option. Garuda appears to be joining up.

This earning method of 10 Honors points per USD spent at Hilton Hotels plus 1 airline mile is already in existence for most airlines, including Qantas and Virgin. In fact for Virgin its 2 points per USD. So it seems to me that unless you are flying Garuda you are better off accruing miles to an airline program you already use.

Agreed - with Virgin Australia one can earn 2 Velocity points per USD ("My Way" choice alternative instead of an additional 5 HH points per USD).

I wonder what the points to miles exchange rate will be. With VA is woeful.

It's bascially woefull to any airline partner.

Unless you have a million points or more I would suggest not even considering that aspect.

Dunno. With the revaluation, a million is barely enough for a week in the Maldives and a week skiing in Japan...

You need a heap more to set you up well!
