It was likely going beforehand but, I didn't have a membership until after I joined FT and AFF in 2004.

It might have been called something different but there was at least a similar predecessor in the early 90s.

He often asks why my Hilton Diamond status doesn’t give me any benefits for walk ins (he hasn’t traveled for 20 years so is not up with it)

The Hilton Premium Club Asia is being re-branded as Hilton Dining Asia Pacific as of 17th July 2018.

It is a significant change, though it is still very easy to get much more than 8,000THB fee in value from the card.

My take is the dining benefits will largely stay the same (ie 50% discount using the vouchers rather than the card) but you will have more venues to use them.

The 20% off transfers and room service are a nice addition but the loss of the 50% off BAR and buy one night get one free on BAR and the Conrad Koh Samui specific discount rates are a big loss (slightly offset by the...

It did change name as there was apparently confusion among members around the benefits of Diamond Status vs Diamond Club Membership.
