Hilton Covid19 virus update

Just cancelled a non flexible hilton booking, relatively painless process, about 7 minutes on the phone in total. Will report if the refund doesn't come in.
Who did you cancel with, the hotel or call centre

I'm not entirely sure, I called the hotel number linked from the booking in the hilton app, the call was answered by someone who said thank you for calling the correct hotel. But I did have to do the whole push 1 for reservations system, and I suspect it might have just gone to a general call centre.

As it was a non-cancellable booking my only option seemed to be to call.

OK thanks, i think it does have to be a real person who does the cancellation but I dont know if we speak to a call centre or the actual hotel

As per @Comoman 's post #14: there is a link (Go) that will enable you to cancel online. Even has a category specifically for cancelling non-refundable bookings because of the Virus. Only problem is they must be getting lots of these because the "submit" button wasn't working the first 20 or so times I tried. Eventually got it to work and am now waiting to see if the cancellation goes through.

Hilton was pretty good with canceling non-refundable bookings due to COVID-19 even way before travel bans were introduced. Called to cancel some bookings in February simply saying I don’t feel comfortable traveling overseas at this stage and all canceled with no issues.

So can some knowledgeable person advise, I achieved Diamond via my Virgin Platinum membership in April 2019 which I believe gave me Diamond untill 31st March 2020 plus another 12 months expiring 31st March 2021. Now with this extension offer it will see me through until March 2022.

Right or Wrong ??

I'm not an expert here, but if you used your Virgin Plat membership to obtain Diamond HH in April 2019, I would think you optimsed it well and have that until end of March 2021 regardless of what is going on - not Mar 2020 as you suggest. For example I did the same in May 2018 and enjoyed it until the end of this month.

I've fortunately at the 11th hour received the 12 month extension (not sure how much benefit it will be though) talked about in this thread. In your case I'm not sure how it will go, i.e you have already until Mar 2021, but do they give you and extra year until Mar 2022 or is the extension overlapped with the generous (and optimized) timings you have taken. My gut feel is you will have it until Mar 2021 unless this situation lingers.

- not Mar 2020 as you suggest.
Thanks for confirming what I thought, just 1 thing though, I didnt suggest I terminated March 2020 I did say 2021
From my post.... " which I believe gave me Diamond untill 31st March 2020 plus another 12 months expiring 31st March 2021

Yes, I could have done it earlier in the year but I deliberately left it until mid April

Has anyone stayed at Hilton properties this week? Just wondering how the breakfast arrangement is like now that the lounge and restaurant can’t open.

I dont check into my Hilton account often but got this email not long ago and my Diamond status extended until March 2022

Interesting. I got an email, but no indication on it when my expiry date is!

My status was due to downgrade March 2020 to Gold so I dont understand why my email said 2022 but I'll take it

I didn't get any email - through my credit card I should have been Diamond until April 2021 so hopefully this will make it through to April 2022 (assuming we are travelling again in 2021). Would be nice to know when mine is due to expire.

Agree ... can't find anything on the app or the website.

Pre-xmas I booked Hilton in HK & TPE for a work trip, last week of May 2020.

Hilton HK replied and said 100% refund no worries.
Hilton TPE are saying book a new date by 13th May for 6 months in advance and you can use the crediit..
I replied saying credit is no issues, however I do not think I'll be able to pick a new date by 13th May, they replied again with the above...

suggestions?

I received a "monthly summary" today telling me rather than dropping from gold at the end of last month I have been extended to March 31st 2021.

In a development due to bring a level of joy perhaps near to the extension of HHonors elite status, there is this:

I apologise in advance for potentially adding to Easter Weekend calorie count!

Cheers,
Matt.

Oh, no. There goes my reason for the next TwoTrees stay (whenever that may be).
