OK - so if I were you, and this is what I'm doing as well - I would wait until your HH Diamond status drops to Gold, and then apply the VA WP benefit to get HH Diamond status for 2 years until end of March 2025.

HH status is like QFF and many others, wherein you'll get status for the remainder of the current year, all of the next, and until the downgrades happen in the year following that. If you accept the current Hilton offer and retain your tier that way, then you would get extended only to the end of March 2024; half the time the VA option provides for. Also, as your VA WP status would likely have lapsed by March 2024, you would then only be able to match to HH Gold from VA SG.

Hi All - I requested my HH Diamond upgrade in early April (the 3rd, I think), after my status dropped to Silver for 2022. I got a confirmation that it was received… but nothing has moved on the Hilton side since that. The same with a request to upgrade Hertz from 5 Star to President’s Circle.

Any recent experiences with how long it’s taking for the other side/s to complete the request? No urgency; just curiosity. They did say to allow 20 business days, but it’s rare things actually take the allowed time, IME.

Mine (VA Gold -> HH Gold) was processed in a couple of days last week, after I gave up on the SM - couldn’t get that to work.

Re: Hertz - I’ve tried twice to get an upgrade using a VISA offer and then IHG Ambassador - both went into black holes - never to be seen again.

I applied for HH diamond in Feb, no movement for a month so I emailed VFF and they were able to update my Hilton status within a week.

No, I now have Gold expiring Mar 2025 (in the eMail confirmation from HH). The SM would have only been 90 days?

Do you use the same email address for VFF and HH? It made a point of asking that during the request process. Mines the same. I can’t recall how long the VA Plat to HH Diamond took for me - it was several years ago (and Diamond was great while it lasted).

Contacted VA on Monday, after the Hertz PC upgrade request passed 20 business days with no contact or change in status. Helpful call centre agent said she would follow up both Hertz and HH, as it was unusual for either to go to the 20 business days without some issue. Confirmed account numbers accurate and e-mail address the same for all 3 of them.

My HH account was upgraded overnight from Silver to Diamond, which I expect will stick to Mar 2025, but I'll need to wait for my next statement to confirm. Still no movement as yet on Hertz status.

Silly question I should probably already know the answer to - do they recognise the status when you book, or when you check in? I have been waiting to book a few places until the new status was in place but it might not be necessary?

Apparently, it’s a little of the ordinary to take this long. Others have had success within few days.

Elite handling is based on what status you have when you check in / arrive; not when you book, so don’t delay booking while you wait for the status to be applied

for reference, my match to HH took well over 20 days, and after contact velocity, was sent a email form followed by a phone call and then a few days later HH status upgrade.

20 days here and no sign. I phoned up a few days ago and they said wait the full 20. Now I'm on the road and can't easily phone again, and my stay booked is tomorrow night. Sigh! Can I send them the bill for my breakfast

So I waited the 20 days, nothing. Called, they said my phone number format was wrong and would correct, give it 3-5 business days. Fine, missed my stay AND the next one. Wait the 5 business days, nothing (surprise). Call AGAIN and this time was 'you didn't give us your HH number'. Yes I did!

Rolling series of excuses. Sent in a complaint via the webform and it finally got done. 3 stays wasted though (would've booked somewhere cheaper/better if not for the free breakfast).

Log in to your Velocity account, and go to my benefits
