Hilton Diamond through Velocity Platinum status

Is that a VA1 to VA2 thing with some turbulence along the way? Or just lucky?

Neither. I followed the lead from another member on this thread a couple of months (see upthread a few pages ago) ago by reaching out and simply asking for Velocity to reinstate the once-off instant Hotel status benefit. It probably helped that I'd been Platinum with Velocity for the prior 12 years. But its definitely a matter of YMMV and don't ask don't get.

Won't that change on 1st April as that is the first day of the Hilton year when you drop a level?

I don't believe so because from Hilton's perspective, I just attained Diamond having temporarily dropped to Silver for a couple of days. Whether it was after a week (and 0 nights) or 11 months (and 60 nights) in the calendar year is irrelevant.

I activated my second VA HHD entitlement at midday on January 1st. Today when I log in, my account states that I’m Diamond thru 2025.

Oh I was expecting that your status would run till March 2027. Did you only get till March 2026? I am thinking when I should activate my status match.

I applied Jan 2024 and have got until Dec25 (march 26) for mine.

That’s what I originally thought and was hoping for, but it seems not. Having said that, for the life of me I cannot find the status expiry on the App or website now.

It’s only visible on the monthly HH email statements; else you can chat to an agent via chat on a web browser to confirm

Data point: My HH account has been updated to Diamond today (17/1) after applying on 8/1.

No movement on the Hertz account after applying for PC at the same time.

Maybe they processed a bunch of applications at the same time?

@FishFood can you confirm what expiry date you got? I'm still a bit confused about whether to apply now, or wait until 1 April as has been mentioned in this thread.

Anecdotally, when the benefit is applied, you get the status for the remainder of the current calendar year, the subsequent calendar year and the first three months of the year after that.

You only need to wait until April if you are already Diamond and are going to drop to a lower level at the end of March.

There is no point in applying the benefit if you are already Diamond.

So it is really more the case of waiting until your status drops before applying.

If you do not hold Diamond status then apply the benefit from January for up to 27 months of status.

Not sure actually, from this thread I understand you get a monthly email with your expiry but I checked just now and haven't received it yet

I was someone who applied in early January this year, going from Silver to a Diamond via Velocity Platinum (see my note up thread). I just had Hilton confirm via chat that my status is good until March 31, 2027.

I gave feedback to the agent - and then in the post-chat survey - that this expiry information should be more easily accessible in the app or on the website.

Fwiw, still no movement on the Hertz President's Circle status even though I applied the same day as Hilton in early January.

I had to email Velocity to follow up, but heard from Hertz a couple of days later

A lesson learnt from me which I’ll share and hope it will benefit someone.
If your diamond status hasn’t expired, use your velocity benefit to match it to a newly created hhonors account. Once that is upgraded to diamond, when your current diamond expires, send a request to hhonors to merge both accounts. Most importantly make sure the merged Honors account has the same email and address per your velocity.

I didn’t time mine correctly and ended up with only 1 year diamond instead of 2 but I have since requalified.

Just once. In my case, it’s matched to a newly created account.

Raises a question; The benefit is supposed to be once per VA account, and after reaching SG or WP, or is it once per Hilton account - or is it both? If someone like me, who only attains VA status when they are offering a match, were to match to a new VA account to the one I usually maintain, next time, would I be able to use the benefit on my main HH account (which has been upgraded via VA previously, but would have been via a different VA account benefit), or would it also need to be a new HH account that it's matched to? I don't earn enough points or status with VA to care about continuity there, but it's worthwhile on the HH side, on the off chance I make LT Diamond at some point.
