Re: Select Oz/NZ properties - New rates

Thanks guys. I saw some article about night transfers to the Conrad but wasn't sure what the latest was.

MH is out as far as going there is concerned so that leaves Sri Lankan and SQ to get there. Sri Lankan business class is pretty cheap, only around 1500 return for 2 people but I'm not sure what they are like. SQ is around 4.4k so not worth it for 4.5 hours.

Last option is SQ or Sri Lankan there and MH home, as I was going to close my last Sin-Per return and start a Kul-Per return... Too many choices sometimes.

Re: Select Oz/NZ properties - New rates

I've copied these last posts over to a new thread here.

I hope this is appropriate as I'm also very interested in the replies, but we were getting way off topic for this thread about HH new rates and I'd like to see more suggestions discussed.

Mate I'd try using US Divendend miles to fly to Malvdives! From what I can see it is 30 000 miles per person for business class fares SIN-MLE return!

Ok, I'm in :D
I'm going to burn all my points on a 7 night stay in Conrad Rangali, Maldives.

Need to book before end of March and can book up until March 2015 I think.
Standard Diamond Room is 37,500 per night and then pay the difference in USD to upgrade to Over Water Villa.
Save up plenty of spending money for coughtails
Have I missed anything ?

Just have to convince Shrek, work out the dates and fill the AA/ LifeMiles coffers to get there :)

Sounds like a very AFF holiday

Perhaps we should ask, is there any AFFers NOT doing the Conrad Rangali thing?

Any info on how to upgrade? Isn't an upgrade only in the event of vacant water villas? If so, I'm thinking we may be disappointed as it seems a busy time of year around Christmas.

Lengthy but very worthwhile thread on FT on this.
I think you can email the hotel direct and ask for rates for paid upfront upgrade to the higher category villas.
Some quotes seem reasonable ( cf. the Conrad Rangali actual paid room rates) kind of similar to the HH points plus co-pay available at many hotels.

Burning at Conrad Koh Samui here - top category hotel - Maldives/French Polynesia great for honeymooners but chose Thailand in the end for ease/cost of access and nearby attractions.

This post sums up the pros and cons when it comes to upgrading:

Me.. Hilton Bora Bora Nui instead......

Conrad Maldives seems to be very overrated here

:( Just as well I only have ~70,000 Hhonors points.

Trying to work out the attraction to Maldives. Somehow I do not think it is golf....

You would be right there
I think it's eating, drinking and snorkelling
I'm just trying to figure out if my fair Celtic skin is up to it :)

I didn't realise golf was an attraction anywhere! ;)

Trying to shove a little white ball into a little hole in the ground with a stick does not lend itself to "easing" stress levels! Mind you, Caddy Shack was somewhat amusing and I do quite enjoy the 19th.......

Just got to watch out for those water hazards! They can be pretty big once you clear the sand traps ;)

Oh yes it does.

Had a really good holiday and managed to play 7 games of golf and in the process walked 4 of the 7 games. This holiday went a long way to relieving the pain from the previous holiday.

Had some strange lapses in concentration mid swing which as a golfer is worrying but along the way I managed to play some memorable golf shots which keeps me going back. Looking forward to going back again in 48 days and another 7-8 games of golf.

Ok, big dilemma now. I just realised that my fave New York Hilton property ( DT Times Square) is going up to Cat 10.
We are in NYC for New Years and I can get a Diamond Redemption for 37.5K points per room. The going rate for 31st Dec is $4800 ($900 per night either side).
Decisions, decisions !!! Week in Times Square with kids, bucket list NYE or week in Maldives with Shrek, no kids, bucket list beach holiday.
Help :!: :p

I'd be thinking NYE in Times Square would be pretty spectacular but it is only one night.
