Hilton Honors discussion

Book for 2 and in the notes, write "HH benefit, 2nd guest free. Total occupancy 3 Adults".

It's always worked for me, however the free breakfast bit may or may not be included. If the rate includes breakfast, then it should be included for all three. If the rate is room only, then officially you should get the diamond breakfast inclusion for two at least and perhaps the third, but you wouldn't be able to insist on it (IMHO).

Thank you! I will give this a shot =)

When you log into your account, look to the "My account" menu down the left of the page and the very top menu item is "Account Overview".
Click on the third hyperlink under account overview, which is titled "My Hilton Honors card" and a pop up window will display your card details (bottom left corner of the window or you can also download it or even print it) and in small print in the bottom right corner of that card is the exp. date.

Any place a value on HH points? i have been offered 8000 points in lieu of a USD $28 refund, it doesnt seem like a good deal to me, when I look at redemption value to Amazon or to FF

I would place the points marginally ahead of the money but if you have no use for them (hotel redemption) then take the $28.

Yes, but have you ever tried to bank a foreign currency chq to your bank account? There is a fee, some banks its $30

8,000 HH points worth $US40 and even more valuable if you can use them at 5k or 10k points per night hotels.

I would not accept a cheque so I would go with the points especially as you can pay points as part payment for a hotel room.

I value them at about US 0.4 cents each. But it varies from one hotel to another as to whether I use points or cash depending on perceived value. No hard and fast rule really.

Hi - I just tried that and there is no date.

I got a Macquarie visa last year and that gave me gold and a free weekend night after a certain spend. I'm not sure how but I'm now Diamond but I can't work out how long for. It sort of looks like it will be until the end of 2018 because it says

Based on Nights earned this year, your 2019 tier would be Member.

I only have about 41000 points and unlikely to use them any time soon so thinking that I might just book my free weekend night and then book another night with my points while I'm still Diamond but just have to decide where.

Seams to no longer show it.. Also had an option to print the card which is gone.

On that basis, you could expect to retain the diamond status for three months beyond the end of 2018. That is, until 31/3/19, with any status drop coming into effect from 1/4/19.

Yep, looks like they've changed it for whatever reason.

The Mac card was doing some odd things (a few members have commented about diamond being given for no apparent reason) so I'd suggest you enjoy it while it lasts. A comp diamond in 2017 should give diamond status until 31 March 2019, but who knows what will happen ... maybe diamond might be comped for another year! That text is just generic code and charts your stays/nights/base point progress for this year. I've been told by Hilton previously that all status reviews are manually done (which is why they allow the additional 3 months). That was a while ago however and perhaps these anomalies are Hilton starting automatic status reviews???

I'm trying to redeem a reward night. Rang and got someone who said he couldn't see it on my account and I said well I have the email please escalate and was told I'd have to call back the next day.

Rang again and was told yes it's there but the whole of the Hilton booking system does not allow you to book reward nights at the moment. Very annoying

Is the system down because of the recent significant maintenance / supposed upgrade?

I think so. He told me that I should call again in a week but the certificate expires in early December and he said if they weren't able to retrieve it by then I should ring Macquarie (the credit card that gave me the free night and ask them to extend it) but I'm currently Diamond and want to use it before my Diamond expires.

When they advised of significant upgrades happening I did fear they'd have problems for quite some time.

Your Diamond status should remain until 31 March 2019, so there could be some merit in getting an extension. I've never had a reward night certificate - does your stay need to be by early-December, or simply booked by then?

I'm not sure but I have an occasion that I'd like to use it for in a couple of weeks so that's why it's annoying

Gday

I currently have a booking made with a free night certificate that i am trying to change to a different hotel. Rang up yesterday and the call centre said they have been having problems changing certificates for over a month. He said i should try when the Diamond desk opens and they might be able to help. Just rang and tried to speak to the Diamond desk and couldnt get through. The bloke i did speak to cancelled my original booking and said i had to wait until the certificate is back in my account before using it to book at the new hotel. Only problem is he could not tell me how long that would take or how i could see it on my account. Have had a look around my account and couldnt see anything.

Anyone know?

Thanks.

Pele.
