Good evening all,

I have a query about HH Platinum Card through Macquarie. I apologise in advance if this query has been answered already. If I get the mentioned credit card, keep it for 10 years do I become lifetime Diamond? I stay at Hilton semi - regularly, and go between Blue, Silver and Gold. I have enjoyed Gold especially the lounge access. Thank you :)

Not under the lifetime diamond rules. 10 years of diamond is part of it, but so is 2 million base points, or 1,000 nights

After reading an article about Lifetime Diamond over on Executive Traveller, I thought I'd contact Hilton CS to find my current position.

Let's just say that whilst I'm close on the 10 years of non-consecutive Diamond (8 years and 271 days) I have a shed load of nights (214 of 1,000 Nights) or base points (396,781 of 2,000,000 Base Points) to go. Thought I'd be a lot closer after 20 years, but I wonder if they go back tothe beginning of membership. Shrug. Probably won't attain it in my lifetime :(

Thought I'd ask as well. I've got 138 nights, 350K base and close to 7 years.

That Maldives stay pre COVID really boosted that balance.

I'll probably need to make an enquiry, but I suspect that I'm not that far into the triple figures on nights.

12 years as Diamond, 890 nights and 1.7 million base points. Both should reach the required level around the end of 2024. The question remains, is it worth it?

Absolutely worth it. Unless you are directing stays there that would go elsewhere, or have significantly changed travel patterns, it’s useful for the future just to have in your pocket.

I’m now 8k BP off. Almost worth a paid Maldives trip 😂

IMO, it's really not. They're handing Diamond status out on cereal boxes in the US, so it's completely devalued.

If you can get it with your current patterns, great, but I wouldn't be going out of my way to get Hilton status going forward (beyond perhaps Gold). Especially that it's getting very rare to find an executive lounge in the US, and many European ones have cut back significantly.

"Going out of your way" ? I'm not staying in hotels for the status, but I'll usually select Hilton where possible. In many places that certainly means I'm paying more than I could or might want to. The value for me is in free nights and access to a breakfast and sometimes to a lounge. Lifetime status might help there as our overall travel reduces in future.

My point is you can get most of that with Gold.

Is there an easy way to get status? My travel patterns are totally different now travelling with wife/daughter on a budget but I'd like to have 1 x 5 night stay in Hilton Pattaya as my daughter has never stayed there.

5 nights is THB35000 (way too much cash to pay) or 265,000 Hhonors points. Executive room is 330,000 Hhonors points. Would have been nice to get the 5th night free as a status member.

I have 108,000 Hhonors points + 270,000 Amex MR points which are pretty much useless for anything meaningful so still quite a way short.

In the US there are a bunch of credit cards that come with either Gold or Diamond status. Really easy to get if you live there.
