Hilton Lake Taupo misses out on status x 2

Looking at the OP's posts and then the return comments I think a few people are being precious. It is simply not possible for every hotel staff member to know the relationship between any two people. Irrespective of whether they are a male/male, male/female or female/female couple people should be treated with respect. When I checkin, or at any other time for that matter, I could be with an entirely different person to whom I'm sharing the room with, so by some comments here the staff are going to be wrong no matter which way they look at it.

As an example a few weeks ago at HSW I had a female friend with me at checkin, I was with a bunch of different people in the lounge and I had breakfast with Jessica Tam. Any one who was trying to draw conclusions would have gotten it wrong as I was actually staying alone :!:

It's possible they are still scratching their heads on that scenario.. ;):mrgreen:

Have just checked into the Hilton Lake Taupo, NZ, and oops, the hotel manager has made a couple of big mistakes...

1. Welcome letter outlining the benefits of being a Gold Hhonors member (I'm Diamond)
2. A card wishing me and my wife (Mr. and Mrs. xx_) a pleasant stay which was accompanied by a bottle of Sav Blanc (nice touch but I'm not married <checked in with my partner - we're gay  >

I suppose these things happen but paying a little bit of attention to details goes a long way.

Im gay to and really dont care if my partner and I get called Mr and Mrs, we're defacto and have been together for 10+ years... who really cares and I guess you're lucky you got a bottle of wine for what ever special occaision you were celebrating. I presume your letter said Mr and Mrs probably because they didn't know who's special occasion it was - was it a birthday or anniversary? if a birthday then they would have needed to know who's so that they could address that person - wouldn't they? I would suggest if you're so offended by the fact that they recognised your relationship albiet incorrectly that you get them to add "Im Gay" to your profile and then they will be sure to get it right. Personally I would appreciate the gesture but yes do understand your rant. I have stayed at that hotel before and Im fairly sure the manager is Gay so this is a crack up!

To be fair, japansuki did clarify he was not offended and posted the experience more as a point of interest.

Thank you, swanning_it - yes, I was not offended!! I kind of regret posting this now with either all the bored or very passionate 'on the topic' readers. I actually wrote to the HM this morning and he is, thanks to numerous responses' advice, putting Mr. and Mr. in my profile. Now enough said - let's all move on :):)

Hmmm. It is none of my business....

For someone who was not offended they were certainly very rude in their responses in thread. Methinks the OP doth protest too much.
