I can't remember how much it was but I must have spent the minimum to get a bonus and I got a free weekend night that turned into an absolute debacle because they couldn't book before the cut off because of the software changes so they gave me a free night anywhere in the world that expires at the end of January 2020. I don't think I ever spent $12k but somehow I'm diamond so I'm not going to ask. If they make me Diamond for the next two years I'll just keep my mouth shut

There's been some similar posts over the past year or so regarding Hilton Diamond. I seem to recall that someone wanted to phone Hilton Honors to try and get them to explain why he was Diamond when he thought he should only be Gold. :( Go figure.

Maybe they caught onto a glitch, or maybe some of us received an unpublished benefit. It was certainly good while it lasted. :)

You can check the expiry of your elite status through the HH website portal. I know a few of us including myself got diamond without the $40k spend and I have checked that mine does indeed expire in March 2021. Best fee free card I ever had.

As far as I can see, there is no expiration date anywhere in the HH Website portal (It used to show it, but for me it disappeared at the start of the year)

I can't find the expiry - can you give details please? TIA

I emailed [email protected] to ask them my status expiry date and got a teply in 5 minutes. Currently expires on 31 March 2020.

Interesting but the blurb says they will continue to 2021 and yet yours is only 2020. I want to fly under the radar because technically I shouldn't be Diamond ;)

Me neither..! My experience with Hilton status is that it lasts until the next 31 March after it was granted, plus a year. After 31 March this year will be interesting to see whether Macquarie gives Diamond or Gold for the next phase.

My Current Diamond status is due to expire on 1st April. So would I be comped Gold or Diamond on 1st May? If I do drop back to Gold, I guess I could put 12K spend in Aoril b4 the 1st May cutoff...?

I think that would be wise.

Edit: $12k is for the complimentary night. I think you need to put through $40k for Diamond.

I think you only get Gold if you have done whatever it takes to qualify for Gold. i.e I thought there is no soft landing and you can get punted back to the start.

Agree with @hossein_au , @kpc if you still have the Macquarie Hilton card on 1 April and haven't met the $40K annual spend requirement for Diamond, then you'll go back to Gold. If you meet the spend criteria ($12K) by 30 April (whichever is earlier) then you'd get another free night - but it must be used by the nominated end date of the free night expressed by Macquarie. Spending $40K in a month to re-qual Diamond surely is out of reach.

Still, a couple of years Gold isn't too bad.

I don't think current, in this context, means today. I would read it as 'current on the date the extension is due to happen' (I guess this would be either on 31 March or on 1 April).

Ok my card anniversary period ends end of March 19....so I have been hammering this card in the last 2 weeks or so and now have spent an additional 28K on top of the 12k already spent on the card (within my card year) ....so hopefully, I'll remain Diamond tlll 31 March 2021 :) :)

You don’t need to spend $40k for the Diamond status extension as Macquarie said it’ll be extended automatically after they swap over the card.

Do Hilton have a soft landing eg if you're Diamond and don't requalify do you go to Gold or back to the bottom

The point is i will drop back to Gold on 1st April....so not sure if they will extend Gold for 2 years or Diamond for 2 years....based on above posts, the suggestion (which i agree with) is that they will extend my (dropped level of) Gold for 2 years :( ....now by spending 40K on card, I think I should be OK for 2 more years of Diamond :)

No soft landings that I have heard of. Normally would have to qualify each time. But that is a Hilton Honors thing. Not related to the Macquarie card

No "soft landing" these days.

ISTR they did have a soft landing but that was in the last decade.

I will miss my * status but it's a 2 way street.
ATM we try to stay at Hilton's (for the perks) when previously we would just balance the perceived value -v- the cost.

Funny I thought everyone got upgraded to Diamond without the $40k spend and it was to last till March 2020. I believe myself and a few other colleagues had that happen to them.

Mine diamond was extended to this year. Not sure if I will be dropped back to gold come April, but in any case, I have a Velocity Platinum trigger at my disposal.

I couldn't say if everyone got upgraded to Diamond w/out the $40K spend, although I know of some (intentional, or a glitch?).

Also, the Hilton Honors digital membership card (in HiltonHonors, MyAccount) does not show a status expiry date these days, so just assuming that my status will be re-assessed again, during March. Hoping for good news though. :)

We had 2 cards and were given Diamond to March 2020 without hitting the $40K. Both cards were cancelled in 2017. We also got two extra free night certificates as well. I can see why this card has been dropped but it was great while it lasted. Unfortunately they declined when we tried to pick up the free ongoing offer, I suspect that it may have been because we cancelled less than 12 months prior to applying.

I just received an email from Hilton Honors that my current status will be extended to 31 March 2021. This has worked out great for me as I have basically been gifted diamond status for 3 years without hitting the $40K spend.
