Hilton Macquarie Visa Card

Has anyone had any difficulties this year in getting their pack of Member for a stay cards out of the Macquarie system?

Also I always thought the package was 2 X Member for a stay cards and 2 X $99 stay cards. Am I correct in this or is there a different number?
My renewal is not until May - normally arrived mid-month (around May 15th).

2 x MfaS and 1x$99 special rate ... ever since MAQ took over ... (CRAFT?)

OK seems I have CRAFT:!: :lol:

My renewal is May also and after many calls I finally got my pack today.

I cancelled my card months ago but keep getting their regular promo emails.

This is what happens when you complicate programs. Too many cooks in the kitchen and no one knows who's entitled to the dining benefit.

I am tempted by this card - I am self funding my work stays at Hiltons this year so some discounts would be good. Don't particularly want another card though...

More elsewhere in this Hilton forum - the main fact is that you simply need to be a card holder - you do not need to spend on it.

The 20% discount and $99 rate needs to be balanced against the nearly $300 annual fee.

Was it that they hadn't sent them, or that they had just disappeared in the Aust Post system?
They said they had sent it twice previously.

All I can say is they did not arrive and we don't (normally) have a problem with mail going missing.

It does not take a lot of stays to balance out the card fee. I put through about $10-15 per month to just keep it ticking over and so they cannot cancel through lack of use.

Last year I earn't approx 100,000 Hilton base points which meant I spent approx $10,000 at Hiltons in AP so without the card that would have been approx $12,500 spent.

wow - i only just now became aware of this card - with over 70 nights in hiltons last year, the 20% off sounds appealing! can a cardholder please enlighten me on how you claim the 20% discount and any other pros/cons to the card?

If you are booked on publically available rates, you claim the 20% off by presenting the card at check-in. I normally also add that I am a cardholder in the remarks section, which sometimes gets the discount pre-applied to the rate.

Publically available I assume means any rate booked through Hilton Website but excludes the 'promo code' or 'corporate code' boxes? If the rate is prepaid do they credit your account on checkout(I guess this makes Express checkout a no-no)?

YMMV with the promo or corporate rates - there was a time they would not provide the 20% discount off the rate on AAA discounted bookings where previously they had.

As for prepaid bookings, it can vary.

When booking you enter something into to comments box like: "Maquarie Premium - 20pc discount rate $xx_.". More often than not they take the full amount and you need to negotiate the 20% credit on check-out. Other times they do adjust the rate and take only the 80% nett. This variability has caused issues in the past and you should always have a copy of the original booking showing the original rate with you for verification.

Just to be clear though that the 20% discount only applies to AP bookings and does not cover third party items such as parking, or in the case of the Cairns Hilton, the in house restaurant. See: Hilton Macquarie - HOME

Don't forget it also applies to Minibar and Room service as stated in the terms and conditions. Some hotels say they don't until you show them.

"20% discount on the following items provided they are charged
to your hotel room account; restaurants and bars (including
alcohol and other beverages); breakfast; room service;
telephone charges; laundry and dry cleaning; mini bar; faxes;
and – in house secretarial services."

AP only? Is that new? When I had the card it was non-AP rates as well.
You are correct - Best Available rate and many other rates (including Advance Purchase) are eligible for the 20% discount.

Also all Eforea Spa treatments. I have the email to prove it as I know someone inside Hilton and wanted it confirmed for me when I was staying in Hilton Queenstown in August last year.

Im having issues claim-ing an Honors stay and credit point booked on a 99 dollar night ( that cost me 223 but thats another story)
SPeaking to teh phone rep it says that it was an ineligible night
