Thanks, amazing, That's what I wanted to know: if it was stopped? (in which case they need to take it down from their web site). I exchanged several emails and I ended up being offered an immediate diamond challenge which I didn't want. LOL

Did you have to justify the diamond challenge? When I enquired earlier, they asked for statements of other hotel chains to show I had status.

No, I simply said that I wanted help with the web site which wouldn't let me register for the MVP challenge. I got all sorts of replies that didn't really answer the question. So I kept asking away. I think they may have offered the challenge to shut me up. The good thing about the web site was that you could nominate a starting date far in advance. That was going to work well for me. Sadly they offered the challenge starting immediately. It certainly worked to shut me up

Well, after much to-ing and fro-ing I have had the following correspondence from HH. I had to send copies of statements and proof of status by scanning my cards. I now have to see if I can make it.

Thank you for your inquiry regarding a status match offer. We appreciate you taking the time to contact us.

Diamond status is the highest level with the HHonors program and must be earned through some diligence on the part of the member. As you have reached the elite status with one of our competitor programs we are happy to offer you the opportunity to reach Diamond Elite status with HHonors by completing 1/3 the usual requirements.

If you complete 21 hotel nights between this date and May 12, 2013 you will be upgraded to Diamond Elite status until March 31, 2015. We have added a code to your HHonors account which will track your progress and automatically upgrade you when the challenge has been met.

As a courtesy we have upgraded your status to Gold so that you may enjoy the benefits of that status while working toward being a Diamond Elite member.

Has anyone had a similar offer, as I am not sure if my comp to gold is just while I undertake the challenge (until 12 May) or a full term upgrade?

with my stays this year i'm likely to need to do a mattress run towards teh end to keep my gold
( i would have made 21 night in 3 months easily however!)

Perhaps a chop and change in the same city will boost your 'stay' tally. Not easy in AU (apart from MEL) I admit.

If I don't make the diamond challenge and the gold comp doesn't stick I will follow your advice. Although I will probably be so close to gold that it may not be necessary.
