I stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton (Melbourne) in late November which was booked by our corporate travel agent.

I submitted a retro Velocity claim as no points had come through by the end of December. Today I received this reply from Velocity: "Hilton Hotels have told us that your reservation was booked under a room rate which is not eligible to earn Velocity Points. I'm sorry I can't add these Points to your account."

Question - has anyone had points knocked back from Hilton if they weren't booked directly? Are there specific room rates that only earn Velocity points?

Sadly, this is not uncommon.

Airfares, hotels, probably even car hire all have rates that are ineligible for rewards earn. These rates are usually through travel agents or when there is a big sale.

Sorry :(

Does your Hilton account say you have Velocity points owing for the stay?

I made a stay in November and the points are showing as part of the double dip, however nothing has posted to my Velocity account

Sorry :(

My husband found this with Hertz several years ago when he rented a car in Las Vegas for 3 weeks. He booked directly through the Hertz website and selected the "Pay it Now" rate which was a good saving as opposed to paying when he picked the car up. No points came through, so he put in a retro claim. Reply eventually came back from Velocity - "sorry, no points, Hertz have advised you booked under a corporate rate so not eligible for points earn". There was NOTHING in the Hertz Ts & Cs to indicate the prepaid rate was categorised as anything other than a normal rate, he didn't use any promo codes, corporate codes or anything else when booking but Hertz refused to budge. We haven't rented a car from them since.

Yep. It happens sometimes. It's a sure fire way to lose repeat business. I bet OP won't feel like staying with Hilton if they can help it...

Have to agree. First port of call with Hilton should be to check the points activity for that stay in your Hhonors account. Any miles earned will be broken out there.

But in my experience earning points through corporate bookings is hit and miss.
