Just for those not familiar, the T&Cs mean Double base points means you get a bonus equal to the number of base points. The bonus points themselves are counted as bonus points, not base points.

"Double Points" means you will receive a bonus equal to the number of Base Points earned during a stay. Bonus Points earned on Base Points do not count toward tier qualification.

Hilton Sydney is a non-participating hotel, and the only one not participating in AU

I have an 8 night stay upcoming made up of 1 night on the 6th Jan and then the rest. Do you think this will all count, as they should treat it like 1 consecutive stay with no checking out, or all count, as the first stay is "completed" by the 7th Jan, or not count as it starts outside the promotion period?

I think it should but you never know.

I always find these HHonors offers a bit hit and miss. I recently signed up for a 1,000 points bonus on my next stay, duly executed; still yet to be credited despite following up. I'm a Platnium -- courtesy of VA -- so hate to think how the Blueys are being treated!

Yes, correct, Diamond; Platinum on the brain. It was an HHonors offer so bonus HHonors points.

I think this sentence from the fine print in post #1 means that you will get the bonus for 7 of your 8 nights:

Registered HHonors members will receive the selected bonus only for nights completed during the Promotion Period, regardless of a check-in date before the Promotion Period begins or a check-out date after the Promotion Period ends.

This isn't a one-off promotion. All the hotel chains have almost perpetual promotions, mostly in line with the year's quarters, with little gap in between.

I'm sure there will be a new deal for you in late March!

Points. Many of my stays have been getting >1c per point value and at a bonus 10 points per $, that's a great deal. I think it depends a bit on your stay profile- if it costs less than $500 then it is definitely worth choosing miles (IIRC). My stays are longer leisure trips so I will probably gain about 90000 bonus points in the next 2 weeks, then no stays until May.
