Thankfully August and January are both non-schoolies times (November), but you're right its right in the thick of things and Surfers tends to get a bit on the seedy side after dark, definitely not somewhere I'd choose to stay especially with a family.

Seedy?? Is that what you call it!! Lol

I guess Christmas period brings out the worst. Seriously I thought I was in western Sydney.

The Hilton isn't 5 star. The kids can't cope in the peak and GC doesn't supply the best workforce. I have some inane conversations here.

I do enjoy our unit though. 2br residences in the 01 config. Every room has a window

The traffic flows better in New York.

How could anyone live here is beyond me.

Just think that you have chosen the right hotel at the wrong time..

As for living here, I could think of & know of much worse places..

Certainly disagree with 'GC not supplying the best workforce" - please elaborate.

If ever there is a next time.. Try Peppers at Broadbeach &/or the IC @ Sanctuary Cove.

Would recommend anyone & everyone sane to avoid Surfers Paradise at all costs during this time of year - traffic & crowds being the key elements for avoidance, as you experienced.

Your opinion is well respected & certainly as always entitled, without prejudice.

Cheers,
jl

Sure happy to.

I always ask staff some simple questions. Do you enjoy the work, are you busy and this can lead to more insights on how they are managed.

All said they were passing through, ie looking for better jobs, mention that departments don't talk to each other is always a key understanding about how a team is not working.

The Gold Coast can be a very transitory place and hospitality is a transitory industry. Hence affecting coherence and requires special and sustained attention.

I have stayed at the places you mentioned and there maybe some merit in your comments re time of year as I also alluded to originally.

Our decision to visit is political and I have little clout here, please be clever and read clearly between these lines!

As an aside how do you handle the traffic?? It's horrendous. The light rail and other infrastructure is well overdue. Someone has been asleep at the wheel.
