Hilton robes and slippers

Marge is a compulsive, er, collector of hotel room items that aren't screwed to the wall or bedside table. She used to grab slippers from every hotel chain but these days she's a real "slipper snob". I just took a quick look and she's got a pair from Fairmont and Banyan Tree in current use plus a rather plush looking set from the Grand del Mar in San Diego and a few from various Mandarin Orientals for particularly cool mornings.

She's discerning!

Ahh..slippers! My DH thinks I'm mad collecting slippers but I do use them at home. I think he might just be jealous as they mostly don't fit his size 12's. I'm also a slipper snob and will only take ones I deem good enough. Right now I have a few FS ones (very nice with closed toes), some Cunard ones from our last cruise, some hilton ones and some navy blue ones I think are Novotel. Once they loose their plushness and start to get a bit grubby I toss them and go on to the next pair.

I read the comment more as taking the product just because it's there, as being possibly wasteful as opposed to theft. My original question related only to the slippers. Once used, if they went to the rubbish (which it appears they do), then I'd have no issues about taking them home and reusing them.

Of course the three "R"s of environmental management are Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.....in that order, so not using them in the first place would be the most sustainable. Next being reusing, so I'd see myself as responsible by taking them for reuse rather than letting them go to landfill.

I agree. A bit like taking a doggy bag than have your unfinised meal head for the bin!

Take it all I say ... thatis the consumables stuff.

I don't think I've purchased shampoo, conditioner or bodywash in years and my at home guests always get a lucky dip surprise.
And with hotels like Langham, you often get mouthwash and bath salts as well - and the Mrs loves the Bath Salts ... so its is win-win.

Heck even the toothbrushes and paste are great for travel (Langham have the best I find). Plus then there are the disposable razors (the blue twin blade with lube strip by Bic) which cost a small fortune at Coles.

Whilst we're at it, there are pens and paper ... makes great note pads at home or on the go. And having a pen "vanish" is never an issue anymore.
Tea bags ... well yes please. I do enjoy a cup when at home (but I never take the cups).

I look at it this way. All the hotel branded 'free' stuff just becomes branding the hotel wants you to have. It helps reinforce the hotel brand over and over again and I notice the cleaning cart is usually fully loaded ready to restock.

So is staying multiple nights, why not just grab all the free stuff and throw it into another bag. It will auto-replenish each day. And then you have a wonderful bounty to take home.

The one thing I am yet to consider is the toilet paper roll. But I have eyed it off a few times;)

And each time you use the shampoo etc at home, you can close your eyes for a moment and let all your issues drift away as you are swept up in the Peter Thomas Roth aroma of relaxation. Or some may even consider it a sport:lol:.

Side note ... bit of an old article
