Hilton rolling tier qualifications on the way out

Here's a good summary on FT of what was observed and appears to be the case:
We all agree that the communication from Hilton in explaining the transition as it appears to be working leaves much to be desired that a given.:)

However I am at loss to understand why anyone would feel slighted in the way this appears to be panning out.

a) To requalify for Diamond one is required to make 28 stays within a one year period.
b) All those that had satisfied a) before July 08 were given status for 14 months.
c) All those that had satisfied a) after July 08 were given status until March 2010... a peroid of 20 months.
d) All who qualify before Dec 31 2008 will get status a minimum of 15 months.
e) If you dont achieve at least (d) then you will not have by necessity done
(a)

So what is the problem?

Now I do understand that some may have achieved (b) with the intention of qualifying with stays in (early 2009) And perhaps HH would be better served in offering them a challenge which will give them status until Mar 2010 so that everybody starts on a equal footing BUT that introduces another problem ie whether the challenge stays will count towards status in the 2009 period.

Re: Ways to Fast Track to Hhonors Gold?

OK - so on that basis with a stay on 1 August or including a stay this weekend (award but I will have some room fees as I will be parking the car) I have 139K base points in the past twelve months. Even if it rolls into my November booking (around 17K base points) I should be fine as I had a couple of stays in December last year and should have 153K base points 1 Dec 07 to 30 Nov 08.

That should in theory give me status until March 2010...

Going by your detailed post and assuming you had 14K base points post between September '07 and January '08; I believe your Aug 1 stay would have already "done the trick".

Do tell what it says on your card when it arrives ... :D

Will do :D

Although the bigger issue is the lack of forecast Hilton hotel stays in 2009 and commensurate tarvel reduction (other than more time in India)

Re: Ways to Fast Track to Hhonors Gold?

Noticed - thanks for that.

Like you, however, I'm curious to find out when my HHG will expire. I think I had a discussion about this with HHonors lately and they said it will last 12 months. (i.e. expire next year end October).
Mine expies March 2010;Yours should be similar or possibly even a month or two later!

Also, I never received a Hilton Racing card as per the website would say. Not that I would expect one really as I don't see how it would be any practical difference to my Blue card.
I did receive one; it is now in the pile of useless cards that I have:rolleyes:

It was pointed out on FT that it may not be difficult to find out if you have (re)qualified at least until April 2010.

If your Account Summary on the Hilton.com Welcome page currently shows you having 28 or more stays, 60 or more nights or 100k or more base points you have (re)qualified Diamond until Mar 31 2010. (16/36/60K for Gold, 4/10/- for Silver).

If it does not show this, but did meet this criteria in August and/or September then you would have (re)qualified.
