Staying at the Sydney Hilton tomorrow night and check in via App is open. Amazing that it was one of the cheapest ($320) and best options (as every program is throwing around double the nights stays)

It’s been 5+ years since I stayed here and trying to work out which way (street) to face and whether any level is better than others?

Any regulars that can give me some ideas? I’d expect that some rooms will have gone by the time I do check in.

Only Silver these days so only standard room for me

Higher is better. I prefer the southeast corner, especially if staying over a weekend as the carrying on from George St and the club beneath can carry up on the northwest facing rooms.

Are there any corner rooms available?
Those are slightly bigger than the others. Although the renovations were a help and got rid of the bulky desk furniture.

I’d pick a high corner well away from the lifts. They are pretty noisy.

Yes, some are available but the cost to upgrade is eye watering and my budget doesn't extend to that level.

Sad about being only Silver and not a regular.

Ended up on the 40th floor, facing Park/Druitt Streets. Hopefully I can remember the number:m when I stagger in late at night

Here's a little travel tip I use to solve that exact problem. When you check into a hotel, on your way to your room dial your room number on your mobile phone. Should you forget your room number just check your call history.

If you also lose your phone you have bigger problems

That's a handy suggestion, thanks. I'll try not to pick room 911 while in the States.

The Hilton Sydney is the best-positioned hotel for business travelers across from QVB and transport. (IMHO) Yet it remains one of the most unexciting places to stay—everything is so ordinary.

While I didn't work directly for the Contractor that undertook the major redevelopment in the early 2000s (it was an ex-Tattersalls Hotel), it was a legal mess that had to be sorted out before the owner could open it to the public.

Do you feel that some floors are quite uneven?

The current renovation, I hope, adds little touches - but I have yet to experience it.

Late to this. 25, 26 and 06 are the ones to pick but these are usually the suites on most floors. Having said that, avoid 3526 at all cost as it’s directly under the exec lounge and you’ll hear the foot traffic. 4311 is the next best option as it has 3 windows instead of the usual 2. For 06, you might just catch a glimpse of the bridge on higher floors.

Was the Hilton from when it opened in 1974 (with the famous bombing a few year later), but obviously kept components like the Marble Bar from earlier constructions.
Think the current building was built in the site of former Tattersalls.

Prior to then the Hilton was in Potts Point as the Chevron Hilton on Macleay St, later just the Chevron, then demolished and rebuilt as the Parkroyal in the 1980s, and converted into apartments (Ikon) in the 2000s.

Ended up with 4222 and it was fine. Was interested to be welcomed back (it has to be 8-10 year since I've stayed there at least).
I've just had 4221! Same as other most rooms but quiet and meeting the purpose. I haven't been here for 9 months, after more than 50 stays over previous years, they tell me. Although meaningful upgrades are as rare as hens' teeth here for me, I think the lounge food has improved and the breakfast in Glass is good. They seem to have dropped the "only continental" stuff there too at least for a Diamond. All good.
