Hey guys,

Just wondering if kids are counted as guests for lounge access? As i am diamond but wife is not and therefore she is my guest. Will my kid be admitted? not sure how strict they are about it.

And any tips on the lounge in sydney would be great!

Kids should be fine in the lounge. Have had my kids in there.

Thanks! The reason i ask is because when booking rooms for example if i put 1 kid 1 adult is the same occupancy as 2 adults!!

Btw do they check your room number or person for lounge access. I am wondering if my wife can go in without me.

Btw do they check your room number or person for lounge access. I am wondering if my wife can go in without me.

Yes they do if there's someone at the desk. Wife can definitely go in without you. They have a list with the room number, surname of those entitled to use the lounge.

As PF has said, but to be double certain make sure she is listed at check-in as an occupier of the room. (just in case she has a different surname from you)

Sorry to hijack your post, but my question seems relevant considering it's around the Sydney Hilton - I am a Diamond Honors member however have never stayed at the Sydney property before. There seems to be some confusion regarding what breakfast option we are offered free of charge. Has any Diamond members stayed recently? Is it a continental offering in the club or do we enjoy the full buffet in Glass? Thanks very much.

No prob. My understanding is glass is no longer an option.

As of a month ago, full breakfast in glass, not continental (albeit no a la cart) - fine and easy, just with the added coffee tax if you want a 'real' coffee

Thanks for that. I must have read an outdated blog

As a Diamond we had breakfast in Glass earlier this month. It isn't nearly as good as it was a couple of years ago - lots of cost cutting :(.

No confusion at all. Full buffet breakfast at Glass for Diamonds. Was briefly rescinded and then available again a year or two ago.
I agree that the offering in Glass has gone downhill of late. I'll be there next week and tempted to skip it completely and head off elsewhere for brekkie.

Completely agree about the downhill bit. Waffles permanently gone after a brief reappearance. Downhilll must've been a cost cutting exercise as chef is still the same.

I recall many people having great hopes for the new manager when he arrived a couple of years ago. It has been downhill in these aspects ever since but he may have a better bottom line, at least while he lasts there.

Lots more completion in Syd CBD now, I mean why would you stay at the Hilton for example when the QT is around the corner? The breakfast there is amazing as well :)

I think it has to be recognised that Hiltons (in general) are not exceptional hotels and the HH benefits are what keep many of us loyal to the brand. H-SYD, for all the reasons previously discussed/debated/argued, just cannot be trusted to deliver genuine benefit consistantly and are often more expensive than the competition, so I too have other preferences in SYD.

I'm impressed with the breakfast offering here today, but then I haven't stayed here in a couple years.

Stayed H SYD on the weekend just gone and a little underwhelmed..

I actually only stayed because of the Amex statement credit and I was 1 stay short on requalify ( and SWMBO was happy as well ).. I spent $600 and got $300 back ( 2 Amex cards )... There is no way I would have entertained this at $600

No upgrade either, but not that often as Gold does this happen

EDIT : To be more accurate, the Accom was $501.00 and day spa for +1 was $99.00. Not worth $501.00 is my point

Which type of room did you book? Don't tell me they charge $500 for their dog boxes, that's daylight robbery!

I think it was King executive Room.... It is BS at that price.. Lucky I was in the mood for a $300 outlay

Was that $500 for a King Executive room for 1 night, or 2 nights? If only one night I agree it's daylight robbery, even if the dog box was "executive". :)
