All you FFP Numb Nuts out there, - this blog is filled of what - a be's, could - be's and should - be's .. posting blogs about pickie, dripple, from where's my upgrade dude to i pay $1 fare and i want lounge and Biz class access... 10 years ago the same wants and desire where filled in the former Ansett Golden wing lounges, then AN ran out of money and time, (thanks to Mr News Corp who took 15 years of captial out the airline with no investment asset in return) .. history repeats, airline pampering to passengers wants leads to the death of an airline,

yes you call wave your top tier cards in the air, expecting airlines to fall over you, remember the 30 second of feel you been put ahead of others but airlines accommodating too many too often will kill them.. Ask how SouthWest is the now the grand dad of LCC airlines is because they see the airline as city council bus service.

FFP's start thanking the airlines for all the benefits instead of wanting more and compliants of small things that have no bearing on life. unless you own the airline of course..

I say old chap is there any possibility you could post this in English? I have no idea what pickie, dripple, be's or FFP's are. Having said that it is probably just me and my lack of understanding of modern life. Hey Ho. :(

Ahuh. You realise this is a "Frequent Flyer" forum don't you? Where people discuss random nuances about flying - as well as how to maximise the travelling experience.

You don't have to listen, you don't have to watch, you don't have to listen to our dribble.

This is coming from the same guy who was whining because DJ wouldn't status match him due to status on US Airways..

I can see what the OP is getting out and I must say that I agree with a lot of it as you would have guessed from my previous history. There are far too many people who want want want and all for free or close to it. Ansett bent over backwards to accommodate so many of these "wanters"that in the end, they couldn't survive and the same thing is happening with the big Q now particularly as the majority of the QC members have had their membership given to them. IMHO, we should all take a step back and think of an Australian aviation industry without an Australian airline. The big Q is all we have left, lets try to keep it viable. Of course as with today's modern life, this will fall on deaf ears and the wanters will continue with their push for self gratification along with their ever so too cold chardonnay and ever too salty caviar on their ever so terrible Q flight. We can all then reminisce in 10 years time on this forum about how we all lost a stack of points again on the last aussie airline. They are a long way from perfect but continually taking without giving is not going to improve them.

Just in case the turps is affecting people's understanding of how the world works - it's simple.

Us "wanters" are members of a (profitable) program devised by QF to keep us spending more and more money with QF.

Without such program, QF will in fact be in a worse financial position.

And if the program is failing to keep us "wanters" happy, then it's failing to maximize our $$ spend with QF.

QF have a choice - feel free to drop the entire program and let pure market forces decide and influence their patronage......

Now, where's the popcorn ;)

Thanks for a slightly more coherent post than the OP. The thing is though that you trivialise the wanters by citing ridiculous examples and rash generalisations (majority of QC members have had it given to them? By QF or by their companies? and how is that relevant?).

You say we should save QF like we are saving an endangered species - it is just a company - if it is poorly run it will go under and deservedly so. If it is well run and delivers what its customers want profitably (and by that I mean all customers and not just AFF) it will survive and do well.

We are just pushing QF to deliver a competitive product - we dont bitca about too salty caviar on a QF flight - we complain about not getting any food non the flight or surly staff that throw what little food there is at or tired old planes that dont compete with other airlines or restricted routes that stop us flying QF where we want to go. I would fly QF to DEL if they flew to DEL. I would fly to JED on QF if they flew to JED.

A couple of thoughts:

  1. Interesting that the OP has not been back on line since 8:00pm yesterday. :shock:
  2. If you view his profile there is a Qantas symbol :!: :confused:
  3. News Corp may have sucked the capital out of the airline but it was Air New Zealand that finished the job, sucked it dry and ruined peoples lives. :evil: :evil: :evil:
 
Getting dangerously close to an opinion, but the only thing I want is for qantas to deliver what they promise to deliver.

Teal, interesting thoughts - well rambles really. Any danger you've been in the Lounge?? :confused:

Never mind the caviar and cold chardy, in fact "all" we FF's want is what any normal paying customer is entitled to expect, ie in return for our $ we get a ticket to fly on a plane, which gets us where we want when we want, with certain standards of maintenance, a meal of sorts, staff who are pleasant. Qantas is not a LCC. Tickets mostly, are not dirt cheap. So....if a loyalty program is introduced, the carrier recognises that we FFers are of a value to them - a considerable value - and want to keep our patronage. In fact they offer us carrots to keep us.

So please excuse us if we then get cranky cos the carrots have run out, or are old, or inedible.I've run out of analogies here but you get my drift. And if you read back many of the posts you will see that despite the obstacles often experienced in redeeming our carrots, we just keep coming back...because despite all we really do want to stick with Qantas.

This forum is a great way to avail ourselves of the immense store of info and experience gained by our members. It's not just a whinge fest as you seem to think. And - here's a flash, you DON'T have to be part of it.
