HKG new lounge open

Re: Thank you Red Roo

It's off-topic I know but related to some earlier comments - I've never been in the renovated QF lounge in HKG as I've always assumed that the CX The Wing 1st class lounge would be better?

Rarely travelling F usually J (ex MEL we don't get that option sadly on the directs)....

Am I mis-informed?

Cheers
Hi davec,
Here's some footage I put together from a recent trip via Hong Kong including the QF lounge and a flight back on an old 747:

It seemed great to me although I'm fairly new to flying (first international flight was only 3 years ago).

Re: Thank you Red Roo

This is really off topic - but I spent 20 minutes in the refurbished QF HGK International lounge last night and that was 10 minutes too long. The other 10 minutes was spent consuming a glass of Grey Label and some dim sum 'off the trolley'.

I know it's a long narrow space and that put severe constraints but I found the design and decor horrible. (Although having just spent two hours having a shower and dinner in the Wing First may have coloured my judgment.)

Is it OT?

But the Wing F is the benchmark for F pax and OWE pax so it is the correct comparison and the QF lounge falls well short. As I have said before, I preferred the old QF J lounge in the basement (dungeon) to the new combo lounge.

Re: Thank you Red Roo

agree serfty, I find the Pier J lounge and the Bridge far superior by comparison - the HKGQF lounge seems to import the 'barn' feel from domestic QPs to HKG!

Maybe that's why I enjoy it. The word simple is used as a descriptor for me regularly however.

It is worth a visit even if only to form your own opinion.

Re: Thank you Red Roo

At what time do they stop serving their signature main?

I have a 2am CX flight in J later in the year and was planning on getting to the airport for about 10pm

Re: Thank you Red Roo

i like the qf j lounge. sometimes go over there when i get bored of the wing f to mix it up a bit.
food is nicer (apart from the smoked salmon that you find in the cx f lounge)
like the beers on tap (though cx j lounge i notice now have tsingtao on tap too)

Visited both the Qantas lounge and Wing today.

Food probably a little bit better in the Haven but there's Pure Blonde in the Qantas lounge. ;)

Went to have a shave and shower over in the Wing and just came back to Qantas lounge. I was offered what I believe was referred to as a "turn-down dining service" as I am in business.

Declined as I am not hungry but now I curious. Anyone experience this dining service? Apologies haven't read back through the posts in this thread.

I suspect it's like BA's pre flight dining - eat before you fly and just sleep on the aircraft.

But that's for the 6 hour JFK-UK redeyes, the HKG flights are maybe 30% longer timeswise.
