So the main event is Saturday August 18?

Can confirm the Gasworks Cellar Door is amazing. There last week. Tasted 12 Tassie wines (for $10) - yes Tastes, but James is really exceptional - great local knowledge, generously shared. His tasting notes - in hard copy available support his commentary on the chosen drops.
I'm now living back home in Hobart. Although have family commitments on Saturday mornings at the Salamanca market. So cant join Saturday.
BTW that weekend is the end of Tassie Whisky week. I received the link yesterday to the weeks programs. Apologies if already known and circulated.
Tasmanian Whisky Week 2018 – 13 – 19 August – Get to know your Tasmanian whiskies and the people who make them.
cherrs, PJ

Yow -just noticed the 19 Aug Sunday morning Hobart Farm Gate market in central Hobart - will feature Tasmanian Whiskies....!

To colour this -stunning cheeses, fresh produce some organic, others biodynamic.. and my fav - new season, soft-shell Tassie walnuts from the Coal River - This is a very manageable market - set out on one city block - stalls both sides of the road - "produce" not "products".
But with Tas Whiskies added in -- very much worth a look on 19 Aug Sun morning when in HBA. Cheers, PJ

@Tassieoptom - I'm moving toward Platinum for your event but have a few questions

Is there a confirmed cost I am committing to posted anywhere in this thread?
A final itinerary?
Are you taking deposits/payments in advance?
If not what happens if only a few turn up on the day

Details: Trip is Glaetzer-Dixon family wine makers showroom, Sullivans cove distillery, Coal Valley Vineyard for tasting and lunch, and subject to time is Pooley Winerey, Drop off is in the city at Society Bar. Bus Cost PP is $45 (i will wear any excess) with pickups from Gasworks Village at 11.00. Drop off is scheduled for 4.00pm. The only inescapable cost is the Sullivans cove distillery, it is a working distillery and offers 2 options tasting only $30 pp, or Tour only $30 pp, If we do both it is $40pp for tasting and tour. This would be my recommendation, would be a shame not to get the works here.

Often the wineries say they have a tasting cost, which is often refundable is a bottle is purchased. The tasting paddles at Society are pricey but get an amazing selection, other wise drinks can be purchased individually. In have not included lunch in the $45 as i felt people could chose what they want and pay for them selves easiest.

Platinum:

Tassieoptom
Doug Westcott
Bunny Bear
Roo Flyer
Steady

Gold

Silver
straitman (Might still make dinner)

Copper

If i can get to a bank and open a special account tomorrow morning then i will post details of account to pay the money into. But am really happy to be paid on the day if it is easier. I have already paid the bus in full, so will wear the cost if numbers too small. Have enjoyed arranging things and did a trial run the other weekend. So no dramas.

Would love to throw my hat in the ring but we're heading north to the sunshine (Brisbane) in the middle of August otherwise it would have been a pleasure....

The stars don't seem to be aligning for this one unfortunately

Good the uni gives you a break mid semester W&D, (assuming I recall correctly that you have some link to UTAS) last time I was looking to catch up at a CellarDoor.co wine tasting you were up north also - I guess it will have to happen some other time.

Resulting from a need to take TOIL and an ongoing restructure in my section (something I won't go into here). We're actually looking at a potential move to Brisbane if things continue to head in the direction they're currently going, Utas is not a particularly happy place to be at this point in time....

Account to pay fees BSB 087-250. Ac No. 780122016. Numbers seem to be flat, and a little less than hoped for, but will be a more intimate group, am still trying to convince MrsTassieOptom to join us on the day, still have 8 days to convince her. @straitman @Steady are you still Gold, or Platinum? @penegal have the stars aligned, are you Bronze, Gold or Platinum?
