There was a post over on FT from a guest already, did not seem to be happy with the HIX for the price compared to the competition.

Oh OK,I'll have a look (not that I was planning a trip to BKK anyway !)

This property was due to open in January but was late as often happens in Thailand. I agree the rate seems too high compared to the other HI properties in BKK and very easily accessible by the Sky Train.

Unless the price comes down I can't see me staying here.

Certainly sounds disappointing but from reading through the thread I get the impression that HIX properties are generally fairly average anyway
so perhaps this new one isn't doing anything unusual.

As I mentioned in that thread in FT, I would pay more and stay at IC Bangkok. Otherwise HI Bangkok if price is reasonable (and not that much more expensive than HIX).

Bangkok must be one of the cheapest capital cities on earth for hotel accommodation. Not a great deal IMHO.

Hotels seem to open late wherever they are. In Australia, I can point to examples that ran years late.

The price doesn't inspire me. There are better hotels available at that price. Heck, I stayed in a Novotel with club access and breakfast for less than that earlier this year....

When I first opened the email I thought that is was a little expensive. And probably still think it is a little expensive.

I am considering booking for next month simply to have a look and compare. I do not care about most of the points raised in the thread on Flyertalk and I am one who likes to form their own opinion about hotels as some views are slightly clouded. The 2,000 bonus points can come in handy as well....
